Vanilla Races Expanded is a brand new series of mods to enhance Biotech features, add to the storytelling and the world-building of RimWorld, and to introduce new, cool types of xenohumans, complete with their own unique genes, behaviors, mechanics and items.

Vanilla Races Expanded - Archon introduces a brand new, mysterious xenotype of dimension-travelling warriors. Inspired by the very similar race in Dungeons and Dragons universe, Archons inhabit the space between dimensions. Not much is known about them, as they are the first xenotype not actually created directly by humans. It is believed that Archons are a xenotype created by some Archotech from all the humans that remained on the transcendent worlds.

They excel in combat, and they despise everyone that isn’t part of their xenotype. They look different than humans, wear archotech gear and use powerful psycasts that are exclusive to them. They are incredibly psychically-sensitive and have new abilities that enhance their psychic prowess.

This mod will introduce new archite genes, considering how archite-focused the xenotype is.

Due to how this mod is focused on psycasting, it requires both Biotech DLC and Royalty DLC.

I still haven't finished my damn deserter run, but when I do I look forward to the next release so I can do a tribal run, and hope for just one pod crash event with an archon in it, so they can save her, and then worship her as their undying "magic" god.

HUGE. TIME FOR A NEW PLAY THROUGH GAMERS.

Yay, more genes to borrow for my next (definitely not Mad) Scientist run.

Thank you for the new mod. Looking forward to try this out and hunt down some Giths :D May I ask you something? Some time ago (I don't remember what mod it was) you gave as a link to your design document for that specific mod. Is this something you like to share with us, when a new mod like this one drops? I can understand, if not, but I wanted to ask nonetheless.

Design docs are generally only shared on our discord, accessible to Gold tier patrons who have access to development channels.

You gave Archons "Early Maturity" a -1 MET. I have a few thoughts on this: 1. Is a short childehood actually a good thing (which is implied via the negative MET number)? There will be less time to learn and therefore less choices in the growing-up list. 2. If Archons are actually based on the elves-meme, wouldn't it be more fitting to give them a LONGER child period instead (and let the trait have no effect on MET whatsoever)? 3. I do, however, see the "warrior"-theme picked up as well and fast maturing might be fitting in this case. It's just that I imagine Archons as those long-lived beings (which is supported by their "transcendent" immortality.) Am I wrong here? 4. Are you sure that "Leapjump Legs" are necessary? They definitely will be handy for a fast approach to melee combat. But the jump is quite close to the Sanguophage's jumping ability and might feel a little bit samey. (Additionally, as powerfull psycasters, the Archon will probably adopt the "Warlord" path anyway and hence have access to the "Power Leap" cast.) However, these are just some random thoughts (and they come too late anyways). I love the new VRE theme and I'm looking forward to add the race to my roster. :)

1. I think it's a very good thing. Pawns will be capable of work very early, no need to wait 7 years when your little archon can start making assault rifles at the age of 4. 2. I imagine they are born in a very Spartan-like way, where they are taught from very young age to be ready for adult life. 3. You are correct, they are more or less immortal, but in the context of RimWorld colony, you probably want your archons to adapt to adult life as soon as possible. It's a double edged sword due to their Extremely aggressive gene too - a 4 year old will social fight to the death. 4. The issue was, longjump legs of sanguophages required hemogenic gene, and we wanted to add a similar ability gene that does not require such a thing. Plus, this new gene allows them to jump over walls thus avoiding your kill boxes. Makes them extra deadly.

I'm excited but confused what this mod is and if it will be in my next playthrough.
