Hey folks!

I need your help right now, today, despite the post being one day late (I have a good explanation, I was working on [REDACTED] yesterday!

What sort of things would you like to see in a mod focused on expanding the Empire faction?

I'm interested to read what notions you have for such a mod.

Here's some pointers to follow if you want your idea to have a better chance of becoming reality:

  • Don't write justifications, reasons, analyses of ideas. Just write what has to be done, as short as you possibly can.
  • Don't frame things as questions.
  • Don’t write very incomplete or vague notions. Write concrete, solid ideas.
  • Write ideas both big and small.

Can't wait to see what you want to suggest for us to add!

A new permit could be caravan support with pack animals and/or guards, from anywhere really. With alternatives for fast or more carrying capacity for animals.

- Leaning into the whole feudalism thing more, being a noble should come with both privileges and duties. The empire should demand things of you, like the tribute being mandatory, tithes, or you having to provide a levy for the empires or your liege's wars. In return you could be given more or other benefits, like vassals of your own that you can task with things or call upon to help you. - Internal politics and conflicts, other nobles that you can barter favors with to increase your standing and power, and so you can / have to maintain good relations with your vassals and liege. And following on that, either an option to join with rebels (choosing to accept the deserter is as others also have noted very lackluster) or the ability to start a civil war in the empire and claim the throne for yourself once you have secured enough support from others and vassals of your own. - Imperial laws to follow - the empire seems very regulatory with who gets to have psypowers for example, if you choose to join them and want to rise in the ranks you should have to follow them, or face the consequences (or have a good enough standing and favor with your liege that you can ask them to turn a blind eye). This could also include decrees from everyone from your liege up to the stellarch. - The ability to call a tribute collector from the comms console, like the other trade caravans.

Smaller Empire bases popping up that you can raid for loot or freeing slaves. Ways to tear them down from within or weaken their influence by becoming a title holder but using it to damage the Empire. I'd love a way to make it clear that I do not want tribute collectors showing up, ever.

Had some ideas for future expansions to psycasts. Apologies in advance. Got a large post, but I'll toss it in a link, so I don't overwhelm everyone with three pages of crap https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QN8GE31dSeCRikStIBzLEv7sYNhBhnqnaYlId2LBGsE/edit?usp=sharing

Not exactly what this post is about, but these are some cool ideas, I will keep the doc handy once we decide about adding more abilities to existing paths!

In relation to new empire material I think what I'd like to see more than anything is a global conflict brewing with an "evil" or opposing faction similar to the empire's strengths. Having the empire and this other faction vie for control of different key points on the map and depending on the world state and the state of your colony (whether it be wealth, relations, distance to the empire, ideoligious differences/similarities/ etc..) you'd get presented with with increasingly difficult quests that seem to actually chain together instead of being random unrelated chores. For instance a starting chain of events that could happen at a moderate wealth with decent relations with the empire could go as follows: - News of an empire's outpost being raided that was holding a very important relic of theirs has been made public. They've come to you because they're spread thin. If you take the quest, you can get increasing levels of benefits depending on the amount of captives you take prisoner and whether or not you take the stolen relic back with you. This would lead to quest two (which of course is up to you to continue for increasing the strength of the world power that is the empire) -After a set amount of time, they will send a shuttle to collect these prisoners of war so they will be sentenced for their crimes. Each living prisoner provided to the shuttle reaps an increasing reward. - A raid hits the colony. The faction wants their people that are held prisoner back. They're very similar to the empire aesthetic with a darker theme and ideoligion. - If the player's colony survives the battle and captures even one prisoner, that prisoner could further explain the situation. Maybe they aren't in the wrong and were trying to fight back against the oppression of the empire. This could spin up another event opportunity that could send the player down a road where they can switch sides, play both sides secretly, or play favorites with one of the greater factions of the rimworld. If done right, a framework like this with chained event quests could really add some spice to a more RPG feeling experience when it comes to the Royalty expansion. Lots more opportunity for future expansions to piggyback off of it as well

Playing around with Psycasts and Pirates, I find it odd that all the Spacer-tech Warcaskets have -50% psychic sensitivity on the torso and helmet. It makes some sense normally so they are more resistant, but it makes it quite awkward for psycasters. Maybe add a prestige variant of the spacer-tech warcaskets, which does not have this reduction/has a slight increase? Probably requiring eltex if Psycasts is enabled.

Complete overhaul to permit UI, should be able to view without clicking on a bio Meme for hating royalty Meme for loving royalty More crazy intricate royal hairstyles Royals should have very long names Larger royal ships and shuttles for important people A system for getting long term workers and permeant peasants from the empire Huge crinoline dresses for high royalty Expansive speech system, give one of several speeches to increase something in all members of a colony, like work speed or mood. Royalty assassination quests More deserter opportunities

More Ideas: A precept that makes the highest ranking royal in your colony the ideologion leader Royal decrees that depend on the royal's traits, for example Bloodlust royals requiring a execution every quadrium, or Teetotaler royals banning all drugs from the base Being expected to run royal banquets, providing recreation and protection for party guests Even sillier quests from imperials, gain honor from building a huge sculpture of a naked duke killing a dragon The Empires marine armor style should be decorated and intricate like Greenwich armour.

Some apparel ideas: Armor Cape - a cape for imperial troops, worn with cataphract armor, used in situations like bestowing ceremonies. The Monocle - regarded in the past as a fashion for higher society it returned to style in Empire with golden frame and intriguing emerald shimmer on the lense (giving it a social impact boost), additionally loaded with a face recognition system that lets the wearer access biographical data about their interlocutor (by cross matching the face to the database), giving a flat +10 bonus to the relationship. Of course, such technology must be restricted and controlled; otherwise every other rimmer would know about the royalty's past - the Monocle is biocoded. Cannot be crafted, worn by imperial higher ranking pawns. Old-fashioned monocle - in design more akin to the quizzing glass (with a handle to the glass) made out of metallic frame and a lense. Used by tribute collectors (and other traders). Would give a small social impact boost and a negotiation ability boost (better trade goods assessment) [sidenote: VAE adds sunglasses with the same boosts, could be redone to only give a social impact buff, as they are meant to be just "cool looking"] A new social drug, in the form of eyedrops, applicable through eyeballs, making in popular among royalty as the application can be fast and more civilized. User enters a state of euphoria (+Mood) and experiences visuals seemingly beyond imagination (high +Recreation), sharpening the senses (+Psychic Sensivity) but also impairing sight due to the nature of application (-Sight). Addictive, long term use causes premature cataracts.
