Hello everyone and welcome to the first of the last devblogs about VFE-Ancients!

As it always is - prior to the mod entering the testing stage, I create infographics for testers to see what content they will be, well, testing.

These infographics eventually end up on the mod description on steam.

I have finished a number of infographics for the Ancients mod - describing how to obtain lab equipment, how to get superpowers and what superpowers there are. Take a look down below!

Probably tomorrow I will be covering the Ancient structures, new quests and the starting scenario, so keep an eye out for that!

Will the super strength power allow for the use of heavy weapons?

Do these powers have the same weight or there will be powers that are less common than others?

It would be terrific to see some way to hedge your bets on who gets what. Especially with Alfred Ancient being the way he is, there's a lot of the same pitfalls as Psychic powers or VFE - Insectoids mutations. Your pawn has a role, they get assigned by their passions and traits, they get a custom room and tools/apparel relevant to their work. . . and then your gunner gets waterskip, while your wimp doctor gets berserk pulse. Most of the randomness in the game is already provided by events and working with the pawns you get. Is there any chance of isolating certain powers? Striking one from the pool for 1-2% increased chances of failure apiece? Giving it to slaves/prisoners, who need time for it to 'settle' before it can be safely extracted while increasing the prison break/slave revolt chance so now you've got someone with laser eyes looking to leave?

Just something that has occured to me, linkables have a range of ~6 tiles to a workbench, can you actually fit all the failure-chance-reducing lab addons neatly within 6 tiles of a gene tailoring pod?

Oh this is so exciting! My only question is about how viable it is to get an extensive amount of lab equipment? Also I can already see it, an experiment 2 hours from completion and then [Solar Flare]. Seriously exciting work! Love that some of these projects are becoming more ambitious!

But sir, this tech is solar flare resistant, in fact if solar flare is active it doesn’t use any power!

Oskar, a question about power sortage. What happens when there is some unfortunate event (zzzt..., some random explosion destring power circuits, etc.), which cuts off power from gen lab? The process stops or u have to start from 0 or patient just dies?

Just to be sure about how Promising Candidate works, if you get this power you won't have a weakness attached at all ? Or do you get one weakness but all future power come without weakness ? Thanks in advance ! Really excited for this one.

You do still get weaknesses, it just means the risk of dying during operation is 0%.

What does close proximity mean in this case, as in normal linkable proximity or is there a special proximity you are using for the genetic laboratory equipment (also, very pumped, side question: if I were to use a resurrector mech serum on a pawn from a critical failure, would that pawn still have their powers?).
