Hello everyone and welcome to another development diary.

Today, let us cover Whiskey and Tequila, two new alcoholic drinks coming in Vanilla Brewing Expanded.

 Whiskey
Ever ubiquitous and likely the most “normal” of all the liquors we’re adding.

 “A potent liquor distilled from fermented grain. The flavors of the aging barrel tend to permeate this spirit more than others. A woody, almost smokey flavor is pronounced throughout.”

Whiskey brews in massive 2x2 casks. It needs to be allowed to ferment in total darkness and any amount of light can ruin the batch.

Whiskey can be double fermented to create a much more valuable and potent Double Aged Whiskey. You do however lose some resource in the process.

Tequila
This saloon ain’t big enough for the two of us, hombre. 

 “A fermented liquor made from agave sap, a favorite of banditos and muffalo wranglers alike. Includes a high-protein snack at the bottom of the bottle believed to bring good luck. Imbibers are known to excel at extended combat.” 

Tequila features a unique mechanic boosting shooting skill the more drunk on tequila your pawn is. 

Tequila is made inside the Tequila barrel and required warmer temperatures to brew. If the barrel is rained on, the batch becomes ruined, therefor should always be under the roof.

I'm 100% making my next colony an alcohol empire. Whiskey will require one of the VE: Plants crops, I assume? And Tequila mostly being locked into arid and desert biomes, yes?

What crop do you need for whiskey? It says wheat, but you mentioned that the mod won’t require any other module. Also, how will Wine be handled given that it is already present in Medieval Expanded?

Have you considered adding things like cocktails/mixed drinks?

I believe we made Whiskey either require corn or haygrass, not sure, will check when I'm back in the office. No, we don't have a vanilla expanded office. I just mean when I'm back on the clock with modding, currently eating breakfast.

Does the cocktails going to use condiments as well?I think it would be fun to add sugar,pepper,milk etc... to it. And maybe champagne to the royals like with the meals they require lavish meals after a specified rank is it possible with the alcohol types?

Yeah! Tea and coffee are getting added, each with unique gimmicks that make them... good for different situations.
