Hello everyone! I welcome thee, to the very fruit of my recent endeavors.

Me and Sarg have spent some time on the fishing mod which is scheduled for release soon. In the meantime, I was expanding on the idea of cuisine.

Before we begin, let me provide you with some background.

The general idea for the mod is that it will be a series, similar in a lot of ways to our animal mods. You can subscribe to each component individually, or all together. Why? Because I will be adding my own crops, but you can opt out of them and use VGP or RimCuisine crops instead. Or none at all, in fact, as the base mod will operate only on what's in vanilla.

And the base mod is a structure upon which we will build. It will allow for new types of meals, with more information on them explained in the future. So far, I can show you how they look like!

These are bakes. Simple, Fine and Lavish bake. They require flour, a new item, to be produced. They are baked on a new cooking workbench. Good thing about them is that each recipe provides 2x the output. You're always making 2 meals at the price of one. They do however take longer to cook.

These are desserts. They are, again, crafted on a separate workbench. Cooked is probably the word I should use instead. Anyway, they require fruit to be made. Vanilla fruits include berries and berries alone, however as I stated before - it will accept any fruits from any other mod, including OUR own fruit module!

They are not considered a meal, and instead a social drug. People don't eat cake for breakfast, they eat it during their relax period.

These are soups. They are made on a new structure, working in the same fashion as a fermenting barrel - it's a slow cooking pot, you put ingredients in it, leave it to cook for 2 days and then collect 10-15 meals!

These are deep fried small meat, large meat and vegetables. Deep frying will be a mechanic extending the out-of-fridge lifespan of food, but it comes with a cost. Each time a pawn eats a deep fried meat, a small percentage of a new HIDDEN effect will be added called cholesterol. When it reaches dangerous levels it will become visible. If the pawn carries on feasting on these finger lickin' good meats and veg, there is a risk of a cardiac arrest and artery blockage.

Yes, you can feed prisoners fried chicken to see them slowly dying :)

We also have a base support for our fishing mod - nothing better than a deep fried fish, am I right?

Please, let me know what you'd like to see added, and stay tuned for more information!

Damn, looks impressive. If my understanding is correct you're keeping this compatible with Rimcuisine by having all the new meals added being made on seperate workstations?

oskarpotocki

It's a bit more complicated than that. The reason why I'm adding new workbenches is to not overflow the vanilla cooking stove with more recipes than it already has if VGP OR RimCuisine are active. I also want to populate the kitchen areas a little. The compatibility will come from a lot of patching, so my recipes can either use my ingredients, or of any other mod.

I love that you add new workbenches. I always end up having a big and empty kitchen anyway!

I think the fried food is the best mechanic introduced yet. I really love it. Finally first world deseases in my colony :D

Hi, if you're starting to put cholesterol, are you going to introduce diabetes too? If so, do you plan some medic addon to be able to get rid of these health problem? Tho, these too factor could be easely healed if the pawn continue to be active and never become sedentary, lol

oskarpotocki

That’s the plan - the effect would wear over time as long as an activity is stopped and not repeated. Diabetes and cholesterol both

what about deep fried human meat?

Do you have plans to possibly include coffee/tea and alcoholic beverages in this series?

oskarpotocki

Since tea is already a part of the game in a form of a psychoid tea, I’ve decided to focus more on a coffee instead. I have plans to add coffee roasting and a highly addictive new beverage in a form of a coffee, yes.
