May's assets are ready! Jump over to the Start Here post and download the new versions of Hull Kit, Tech Ship, Military and Cyber

Most of this month's assets are in Hull Kit. The 'strut' object set gives you lots of base parts to build metal structures and supports. With their large size and variety of connection parts, you can build free form support systems for utilitarian-style space stations, rusting skyscrapers, or planetary outposts that are under construction. See the second image for and example made using Strut paths and objects. If you're in a hurry, you can use the large pre-built strut objects.

The next huge object set features new thrusters. Please note that the recolorable versions of these don't work well with highly saturated colors (other than red), so stick to desaturated colors for the best results. Included are four sizes for each style nozzle. If you keep DD's scale at 1 and select the nozzle object closest to the size you want, the linework will better match with other objects. See the second image for an example of how you can build a whole rocket motor with existing parts.

Two new solar panel patterns should work better at different scales. Give them a try and let me know how they work for you.

Finally, Hull Kit has some floor lights for your hangars, planetary landing pads and cargo bays.

Techship now has new versions of the large view screen. I've filled in the black areas with texture to help them better fit into your designs.

Cyberpunk has new neon sign objects to help call out your various shops. Combine them to advertise for your bars, gun shops and other establishments.

For those of you who are military history buffs (or fans of Metal Gear Solid 5), you'll now find a Fulton Air Recovery System in the HellScape - Military pack. The large crates seen above come with their own helium supply, allowing them to deploy a balloon (Typo'ed as Baloon in the pack, sorry!) to lift the crate into the sky. Ideally, an aircraft would then catch and recover the crate.

There are more objects that weren't completed on time, but they'll make their way into future updates or see a quiet release in the next few days.

Update: Hull Kit now has an additional 134 assets (All the damaged objects on the right of the above image).

Stellar Cartography Pack

Work has started on this new asset pack. I'm still in the early phases of figuring out how everything will work. The above example (absurdly out of scale) shows WIP assets. Terrain allows you to mix and match your own starfield. Line paths can be used to designate areas or orbits. After doing some experiments, I've found that stars work best as objects, not lights, so I'll need to create a good variety of colors and scales.

The asteroids seen here are paths. Why? So that you can make sure the 'lit' side always faces the star. Individual asteroids will be available as well.

The planet is an experiment to build a modular planet system. This earth-like world is built using a base planet object, an atmosphere overlay and a shadow overlay. Ideally, cloud and city light overlays would be included too, but it's possible this modular system won't work out. In that case I'll include a large volume of pre-made planets.

Planetary bodies are being created at 2048x2048, meaning you should be able to make scenes featuring your planets up close, or include them in solar system maps.
