Why do you wear a padlock and chain around your neck?

It’s more than a chain, I have to carry it wherever I go. It’s a curse. The chain is quite literally me. If I take it off for more than a minute, I no longer exist. My consciousness lives within the chain. My buddy here has been cursed too.

Your both cursed? How? Why?

He is cursed as my protector, he holds the key to the pad lock. It’s to ensure I can not give up and just take the chain off. He comes with me wherever I go.

But what’s the point of being trapped in a chain, I don’t get it?

I was placed in the chain many many years ago when witches ruled the land. She assured me eternal life providing I agreed to keep the chain with me at all times. What I didn’t know then was that I would be removed from my own body and placed into the chain and then placed around the neck of a stranger. I then took control of his body. I get to stay as one person for a maximum of five years. If I stay longer the chain will dissolve. My friend was with me when she granted me wish into a curse and now he swaps into the body of the best friend of whoever I am.

That’s a bad curse mate.

Yup. When I’m due to change we need to start looking for a couple of guys who are close enough to spend so much of their lives together.

Okay, and what happens to the guys who’s bodies you take?

They get put into our previous bodies.

Yep, they don’t know about it normally.
