Tar Pits (Patreon)

On a rocky plain with low lying brush sits a maze of sticky, treacherous tar pits. The shiny black stuff seeps up from the ground, while methane bubbles pop on the surface, and leave a bitter smell in the air. On the bank lies the skull of a great mammoth that died trapped in the asphalt. Perhaps a fossil of primordial bygone days, or a far more recent warning. Either way, be careful where you step, and make sure you pack a pummus stone. Because if you do manage to get out, this stuff won’t come off easy.
