Season 4 is probably one of my favorites in the show, but the tickle scene and that one Mineta line to Eri later in this season (please god cut it out in editing I don't want to cringe at it again) actively drop it so far.

I think Overhaul wanted the branding and name recognition that comes with being the league of villians more than any one in the league itself. If people hear the Yakuza (old washed up criminals) are planning something and need investment, nobody will care. But if they have the backing of the league, people will take them seriously and invest in their project.

Seems Montana is almost over analyzing the choice of successor situation. Mirio was essentially the top candidate to get One for All, UNTIL All might met deku. All might essentially saw himself in deku as having a truly heroic heart despite being quirkless and the potential for being better than himself. (And as he said to bakugo, he felt moved to let deku actually be able to stand in the ring compared to those who were already in it) And thanks for answering my question! The excitement I have for this season 😁😁😁

Magne getting killed of so quickly like nothing kinda sells my point about her being intended as mean spirited joke at trans people's expense despite the western fans of the show adopting her and taking her as our own, literally every other villain in the league gets more development and time and detail, not to mention that in both the japanese and english both trans women shown are voiced by cis men, its just, not really that fun that this is the trans representation we get because My Hero is so popular, I wish people recognized the flaws and harmful stereotypes in her as a character when they go on to talk about her being trans, yknow?

I maintain that Mirio was never going to be the Ninth wielder. Not because All Might wouldn't have chosen him in the absence of Deku, but because Mirio would've refused it. He's the kind of guy who would want to succeed on his own merit, and would also want OFA to go to someone who needs it more than him.

I would say the thing that makes Magne an important character, and why i disagree about that she is a mean spirited joke, is the impact her death has on her comrades. They didn't even give the person Shigaraki killed a name and his death had 0 impact on Overhaul and his crew. Also regarding her quirk i'd remind you Midnight has a similar type of quirk that works different based on gender and doesn't effect her at all.

I always tear up whenever I see the shot of "that girl" and Deku falling through the sky in the intro. Partially because it's so symbolically beautiful and partially for other reasons from later on in this season.

I will say a bit odd to be talking about an important character before she makes her appearance but regarding the line, it feels less cringe and more creepy and the last thing anyone aspiring to be a hero should be saying.

Yeah I definitely wish she could have gotten more development and screen time. I’m not opposed to her dying here, but I do feel like she should have gotten as much depth as the others first, we should have found out why she ended up in the League. Not sure it was meant to be a mean spirited joke though, given how hard this hits the League and how adamant they are that her pronouns are respected in the future. It’s actually one of the things that really endeared me to these characters. I’ve also considered if it was poor representation to have the only trans character be a villain, but I ultimately think that each member of the League symbolizes a group that’s being failed by the current society, which adds an interesting angle to it. In the same vein, I don’t think it’s an issue that she has a male VA. It’s interesting to portray a character who may have only socially transitioned but is still respected for their identity by those they’re close to. I definitely might be giving the author too much credit…it’s hard to know the difference between the author’s actual intention and my interpretation, but I’d like to hope it was a genuine attempt. :)

I don't think All Might thought it would've been to perfect for Mirio to inherit OFA, the reason he chose Deku over Mirio is probably similar to why he didn't choose Bakugo, he thought Deku should've had his fair shot at being a hero. This is what he told Bakugo when he was asked about it, basically Bakugo, and Mirio, are already fighting, him giving Deku the power allows Deku to step into the ring. Deku had the heart of a hero, but he just didn't have the power. Also, I know All Might stated it already, but he also sees a part of himself in Deku in him being quirkless, just wanting a fighting chance to be a hero.
