At this point in the show, how close to becoming a hashira would you say tanjiro is?

Didn't they say a hashira is the best at a particular sword fighting style? So if Tanjiro is the only sun breathing fighter doesn't that already make him a hashira in sun breathing?

There are certain qualifications to be a Hashira, though they haven't been laid out in the anime yet (Genya hints at one of the conditions later this season). It isn't just "the best" at a certain style, since new styles can be created from other styles.

There are certain qualifications needed to officially become a hashira like the other comment says it hasn’t been laid out in the anime. Really 2 qualifications required to become one. Imo tanjiro deserved to be at least considered after the swordsmith village arc. Don’t want to spoil non manga readers though.

We get some Muichiro time this episode and we see that he comes off as rude but it seems unintentional, maybe a bit antisocial/aloof, if you will. Do you think theirs a certain cause for this, or is it possibly just how he is as a person?

Didn't the explained early on say all breathing comes from sun breathing so technically everyone does it.

No even though all breathing forms originated from sun breathing they aren’t the same they are weaker for one thing. At this time tanjiro is the last known user of sun breathing.
