I'm going to be honest, I wasn't really hyped for this show at first because I'd never seen it nor had any real desire to, but I wanted to keep supporting y'all so I figured I'd give it a shot and dang am I really enjoying watching it alongside you both for the first time. Maybe it's having your analysis happening alongside my own but I'm having a great time XD

Although I do understand that having a warning of sui*** is important, and it should have been the case here, sui*** is a thing that happens in the real world. It's scary and tbh can happen to anyone if pushed far enough. I think it's important for it to be talked about, even if it's in shows. That being said light is clearly evil here. No bueno

This episode was one of the few issues I took with the series. Talk about plot armor! This woman was incredibly capable and intelligent, even taking the time to use an alias. But light just sweet talks her into disregarding ALL of that precaution? She seriously bought that this KID was a member of a special task force to take down kira? Even though she knew specifically that Ray had given his ID to get himself killed, she willing does the same?

luckily they mitigate that issue later in the series by (spoilers?) making every important female character dumb as bricks and/or helplessly in love with light

Its not because she was attracted to him.It was solely because of L.She was such a great lead in the book that she was almost on the level of Light and L.The anime did naomi dirty but i really recommend the book its called Los Angeles BB murder cases.

The reason why Ryuk was laughing is because a shinigami can see the lifespan of every human. In that moment, he saw her lifespan go from 50+ years to a few hours. Makes you think about every choice you make.

I don't see how a Shinigami would be able to see if somebody's lifespan was shortened because someone was about to write their name in a death note. The whole point of a death note is that it kills people BEFORE their fated lifespan is up. That's how Shinigami extend their lives. If somebody's lifespan was shortened because they're about to be written in a Death Note, Shinagami there would never be any left over for the Shinigami.
