There’s killing from a distance, behind the buffer of 0 interaction, and then there’s actively engaging with the person that you’re killing before (or while) you’re committing the act. We’ve seen Light after killing Raye and now Naomi, what do you think those interactions say about him as a person? Do you think Light feels a difference revealing himself as Kira before killing as opposed to killing behind the mask of Kira? And do you think Light could kill people he’s actively close with?

Hmm, maybe this question is outside your usual purview, so no hard feelings if it's passed over, but: Author Tsugumi Ohba has admitted that Naomi was initially going to have a much larger part in the story, leading her to assist L personally during the investigation. But he apparently "underestimated" how smart his own character was and thus "had to kill her early" or face writing complications later. What do you guys think of this explanation? Do you think the further development of Light as a villain was worth losing (as Ohba put it) Death Note's first "really cool female character"?
