I wonder if y'all forgot or disregarded when Ed came across Al's body and tried to bring it back and the body said I can't go with you, you're not my soul. Do you think the body will just go with any body at this point when it seems to clearly have an attachment to the "correct" soul and admires Al's selflessness.

They watch many of shows during the week so they likely forgot but they do tend to talk a lot during the show and miss details as a result. I don't think they disregard it, just missed it or forgot.

There's a fun fan theory that suggests the Truth went easy on Mustang because he was unwilling. Considering how everyone else actually has parts of their body ripped away, he did get off a lot easier than the others. The Truth COULD have just taken his whole eyes.

When Mustang lost his sight, he *did* gain something from Truth (however unwilling): like Ed, Izumi, and Alphonse, he can perform alchemy without a circle. It's not about Truth realizing Mustang didn't open the portal of his own volition. See, Truth doesn't exactly care about the morality of a situation when those who come to his presence arrive there. It's content to let the chips fall as they may, which kind of makes it a "god-like" creature in this universe.
