In S2 E18 they show Nunally's transport going downward on an elevator. Then in the next episode when they showed the side profile the nuke carved into you could see a lot of transporation tunnels deep underground. They implied Nunally made her escape underground.

Lelouch didn't have time to land in Japan and geass civilians to capture Nina. I am assuming those were Royal guards disguised undercover that were geassed back in Brittannia and accompanied Lyold in the capture of Nina.

Sword of Damocles: A man named Damocles came to the king accusing him of living too lavish of a life. So the king composed a test. He offered him the most lavish feast ever and he could do it in a fancy chairs, but the catch was a sword being held by a thin string had to be suspended above his head. It was to demonstrate that though the king was rich, yes, he always had a sword at his through because of potential rebellions, assassination, military coups, revolt, etc. it’s basically a warning that no matter what you do you can be struck down at any point.
