Been waiting for this since you started watching the show! So excited!

Angel Escobar

I’ve been so excited to see their reaction to this episode

Joel Gilmore

I’m ready to see the tearbending this episode

Jordan

You didn’t react to him kicking through Eri’s head but contacting the other guy to save her

Kollie123

I’ll never get over the anime adaptation left out the fact that he fought off overhaul for 5 full minutes without a quirk, such a huge flex that’s left out. This episode has some of my favorite voice acting in the dub. Overhauls “you’re powerless” and “that’s not my name anymore” in the post credits scene just sound so raw

Alejandro

This is why Lemillion is the goat

Blaik-Elizabeth

Just saying btw, only the "Mentally Ill Violent Villains" gender Magne correctly, which just adds more to my point that she's a cruel joke meant to mock trans woman, not to mention because shes a joke and lacks depth, theres kind of the implication that her mentall illness that makes her fit in with the League IS being trans, rather than suffering from conditions brought about from her poor treatment as a trans person Anyways love this episode and y'all had a really sweet reaction to what happened to my favorite boy Lemillion <3

Gestrid

Fortunately, one of the questions at the end actually mentions that.

Jujinko

Not trying to throw shade but to me, while I can't rule out that you could be correct, that reads like trying to see the worst interpretation of the authors intention with the given facts. The anime is full of grey-tones and critique on the "good" heros while giving the villains humanizing qualities. Many of the members of the league are there as a direct result of another example of this being Stain. So while it is impossible in my position to know for sure I don't (or don't want to) see the depth of the character of Magne as being just a joke at the cost of trans people :/

Jujinko

Also specifically the mentally ill people being empathic to trans people isn't so absurd to me either considering it reflects on the empathetic qualities of those who went through trauma. Furthermore it very nicely shows the bond the league members have and contrasts it with the lack personal, empathetic insight the heros display towards the villains.

MIRIO TOGATA IS THE SUN

Indifferent Denji

I don't know what you mean overhaul is very mentally ill hes literally tourturing a child no sane person can live with that and he in himself he is more so a sociopath with violent tendencies. And I think ur seeing it wrong magne fits in the league not because she's trans the league didn't welcome her for that they welcomed her because she has been thrown away by society because she trans. The league aren't there because of their issues they're there because SOCIETY threw them away because of their issues and personal decisions.not that you said it but people also use magnt death as to say their character was just a joke to be killed. But I don't see how that's true just because someone is trans they're still human they aren't immune to death. And you do know not all the league members are mentally ill right? Compress and spinner are in their right minds at most spinner is just depressed. And I really doubt mango is a joke with how much thought went into her quirk. i

Danny C

Like jujinko said, I think that’s intentionally reading into the authors mind with the intention of degrading trans people. Magne was never a joke about trans people, she was just a character that unfortunately got written out too soon for the sake of needing to kill a LoV member. Toga and Twice correcting Overhaul was intended to showcase that despite being villains, they are people too, and they killed one of their own. Looking at someone in this society for being a person, instead of just a hero and just a villain, is a clear theme in this show, and Deku showcases this many, MANY times. Was Magne not utilized to help showcase the trans narrative in this universe? Yes, but I don’t think it was malicious in the slightest. With people having heteramorph quirks, I think Horikoshi is choosing to tell that story, which is why a character like Spinner wasn’t killed in Magne’s place.

POWER!!!

Zen Reacts

So Lemillions move Phantom threat is actually called Phantom Menace in the manga in reference to Star Wars

Zen Reacts

Everyone else has already said it but I'll just say you're one of those people that just wants to see the worst in everything and everyone whose only intention is to spread hate with with your own viewpoints

Zen Reacts

Also the fact that Overhaul has been killing Eri during his experiments is probably the most horrifying thing

Anonymous

I love everything about this episode, from the villains correcting overhaul on magne's pronouns to lemillion showing his true heroic heart!

Megan

the next 2 episodes i cannot wait for your reaction.

Robin B

I just don't get one thing: would have been bad to let Eri take the bullet? I mean, if she lose her quirk, Overhaul's entire plan fall apart and she would still be alive? I guess it was too risky and I don't say it was a mistake obviously, but I'm curious to know what would have happened if she did got hit

Eugene Wanhalla

Not sure how far ahead you guys might have reacted to already but is it too late to maybe ask that you don't let her read the episode title in a certain key episode upcoming. Its a pretty big spoiler

Kollie123

It does not say it in the subbed version Zen, I just checked. It was narrator exposition in the manga, which doesn’t exist in the anime there’s no point where it’s even appropriate for the 5 minute line to be said in the episode

Amaya Mix

to lemillion it was just a normal bullet that could have killed her, and also earlier he vowed to never let anyone touch her again. I think he was just thinking that he couldn't let her take the bullet and still consider himself a hero

WhateverIFeelLike

We don’t know what would have happened if the bullet hit Eri since it’s her DNA and her quirk inside. Most people have some kind of resistance that’s part of what allows them to control their quirk, like the Todoroki family having fire and ice resistance. The fact Eri never rewound herself out of existence would suggest she has something similar. Mirio simply reacted on instinct which was to protect her from a bullet

WhateverIFeelLike

I’m pretty sure the term Phantom Threat was also used in the title crawl or at some point in Phantom Menace. So I’m guessing they went with that as a copyright/trademark precaution just to be safe, since its video to video rather than video to book which is an important distinction in those cases

Soup in Boots

In addition to the other points mentioned above, the fact that only the LoV correctly genders her serves to further highlight how the LoV is collectively "othered" by society, but see each other for the people they are. She never came across as a joke to me, and I agree that she was written out too soon.

Robin B

Both your answers make very much sense, yes! I almost forgot that the bullet is made of her own DNA. Thanks!

Soup in Boots

They tried to capture this with the way they depicted the fight after he lost his quirk: a slow progression of still action shots with a slow, dramatic musical score accompanying it. It's hard to convey time passing visually, but I felt it definitely captured the character moment: he never gave up, nor was he easily brushed aside. He stood tall and fought bravely as the hero Lemillion.

Eric C

my man mirio. what a chad...

Valerie.Z

@Zen Reacts: Not the official sub, it was added into a version distributed by an editor who works with a number of reaction channels.

joshua

It may be a mistake to assume the show is pro Trans, the only 2 people who respect pronouns are the craziest two mass murderers in the show. And Magne is a murderer and is literally the only character the show has killed up to this point, not exactly a positive framing. I legit don't know what message the author is trying to push, on a surface level maybe its protrans, but if you look at the subtle details...

Bryan

I’m still mad we got a slideshow fight. Him fighting without his quirk would’ve been so fire

Carco11

Tiger from the wild wild pussycats is also trans and everyone in the show respects his pronouns so I think its pro trans in general

Jinchuriki87

Yeah I'm pretty sure they're already past the one you're referring to if I had to guess haha. Maybe Kenny caught it though. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen him skip a title to avoid spoilers

Æther Paradox

I don't think an episode title can be a spoiler as long as you don't know it before watching it. Like... they put it in bold letters in a title card in the show. You are SUPPOSED to know thr name of an episode.

Myles Miller

that's exactly the point. the subtle details is that even the most deranged villains respect pronouns and gender identity without question. honestly the strongest protrans message this series could send.

Mike0-0

I really dont know how to feel about the trans representation in this show. The only trans femme character literally has a beard. It would've been so intresting to get to know why shes so masculine presenting. Maybe she was denied gender affirming care which lead to her becoming a villian? Well I geuss that doesn't matter since they killed her off in seconds. Such a disappointment

Mike0-0

Other countries can literally just dub the trans out of the character in seconds and the design is just not it. Lazy represention I say

Ive watched His fight at least 100 times and still fucking cry. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. The VA for eng Mirio just hit this scene so hard.

imcalledgpk

The way Mirio was still smiling at Eri, even as he took the bullet. He does his best to shield her from everything. The physical danger as well as the mental ones.

imcalledgpk

Yeah, I'm not a super big fan of them changing it in English. The best part of it is that they left the katakana on screen that says the real thing.

Ryan Black

Love that fact he also fights Overhaul for like 5 minutes Quirkless, when others couldnt last 1 second against him
