I honestly kind of agree more with Giles on the Spike issue. There are too many unknowns and too much at risk to have a "hope for the best" attitude. His soul didn't stop him when he was being triggered previously. Was the chip ethically wrong ? I don't know. I struggle to think of a fair comparison, when you account for what Spike is. And if Spike had bothered to use his brain, he would have found plenty of ways to work around the chip; and did to some degree. But, if you're going to just let a vampire walk around free, and have the ability to curb his violent tendencies, that's *probably* a good idea. And even if he has a soul - which doesn't preclude him from killing, and we have no idea if there are circumstances where Spike's soul could be lost; even if there's only a slim chance of the chip protecting the Potentials or the Scoobies, a slim chance is better than no chance without a chip.

You asked in the beginning where Giles went after he left Robson and the answer is he went to the Council and stole those files and books right before the First blew it up. Robson told him it was starting and he knew he needed to get that information and had no time to debate with the council about it so he snuck in and stole it. Then he goes and gathers the potentials that the Council knows about (all of them had watchers that are dead now) but I'd love to know who actually told Rona to come to Sunnydale since she said she never had a watcher and I think was found by a seer in England. I didn't really like this episode. They could have done the Wood reveal in a different episode. Xander as a demon magnet feels kind of played out at this point. I liked Andrew reaffirming that he is redeeming himself and isn't swayed that easily anymore. Dawn respected him a little for that and was even gentle when taking the tape off instead of ripping it off like she would have before. I like that, Dawn is always the first to forgive even if she holds the hardest grudges LOL
