I don’t think getting the Sarah actress back was an issue (especially not within a season and considering the caliber of this show). I assume it was a deliberate, an artistic/ cinematographic choice. Plus they didn’t show Sarah’s face at first, because Joel is too afraid to remember her face (too many hurtful feelings), but then he does see her face nonetheless. Besides memories are strange like this sometimes, especially when you remember things that happened so long ago. Maybe after such a long period of time you only can remember certain details (the christmas tree ornament) or a certain feeling you associate with this past moment.

Loved this episode. The scenes in Jackson were filmed in Canmore, Alberta, about 3 hours north of where I live in British Columbia. I've been through there many times. Might have to make a pilgrimage there this summer just for fun. I also love how they are changing things from game to make it all more realistic and believable, like in the game Joel's wound is far more severe, so his survival was kind of unrealistic.
