Lexi: "So she's the chosen one. I hope it's not the overdone chosen one." I don't know if it's overdone, but if it is, it wasn't at the time. Buffy was very good at subverting expectations and doing things no one else did. But over the years, Buffy has had a lot of imitators. I'm not being melodramatic when I say, BTVS taught other shows how to be. Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, all those types of shows are the way they are because of this show. Without this show, those shows wouldn't exist. If you listen to a lot of shows with teens, the slang they use is strongly influenced by what is now known as Buffy-speak. Ah, yes, the cheese. Accept it as best you can. LOL From what I heard on specials I've seen, Buffy was a mid-season replacement for a show called Savanna. They also weren't sure the show would last, so it had a shoe-string budget. Since you're done season one, this isn't a spoiler: The intro ("In every generation, there is a chosen one...") is there because each episode was written so that new viewers would understand what was going on. That intro was meant to explain to new viewers how the whole Slayer thing worked without having to work it in through forced exposition. That's also why every episode in season one was a self-contained story that didn't carry over much from the previous one (except for the Angel and Buffy plot). Season one ended with everything pretty much tied up because they didn't know if it would return for another season. The Bronze is one of those clubs where underage people are allowed in, and if you are of age, you'd get a stamp signifying that you were old enough to drink. The bartender would ask for id sometimes, to double check. That's how most clubs that serve underage customers make that work anyway. So happy to find another Buffy reactor.
