This is by far my favorite project of the year, mostly because it means I get to ask Jonah Scott to help me make silly Halloween covers, and then Jonah sends me the hottest track in the goshdang world. He turns these things around in like 4 days—it's incredible.

And then I get to goof around in silly costumes. Which you know I love to do.

This year, we only got to make two songs, as I started a little later than expected due to a certain health insurance video. And it KILLED ME because of how much I love the Bee Gees, and how many of their songs I wanted to cover:

  • Nights on Broadway as sung by literally any Halloween villain?
  • You Should Be Dancing as sung by a Necromancer?! (You're Necromancing, Yeah!)
  • How Deep is Your Love as sung by Cthulu?!?!?
  • I Started a Joke as sung by JOAQUIN PHOENIX'S JOKER!!?!?!??!!!?!

Karen came up with that last idea and it pains me that we didn't have the time/courage to tag a 15 second stinger of that one onto the end of Stayin' Alive.

Believe it or not, I didn't get any bloopers from Tragedy, because we shot that whole video in about 20 minutes. We filmed three playthroughs of the song and a couple "TRAGEDY!" pickups, and called it a day. I just wanted to put a little more into this one than last year's "Single Blender Render" videos since we only have two songs this year, and the "more" I decided to give it was a nearly unedited stream of freestyle dance in a mediocre wolf costume.

I hope you all have even a fraction of the fun I had making these videos. I'm already hoping we get to do this again next year. It's a fun tradition, and there are SO MANY good disco bands to work through.

There's always next Halloween if you want to act on any of those ideas.

I love these SO MUCH—I hope we get a “Halloween in June” or the like to see the rest of the Bee Dee Gee’s Hee Bee Bee Gees ideas!! And, of course, I’m already looking forward to next year, too!!

Megan Ellis

The videos were amazing! And I’m heartbroken about the should be dancin’ / necromancin’ cover, but truly can’t wait for whichever disco stylings you go with next year.

These are so wonderful, I would be a patron five times more if I could

The beginning screams segment prompted the following thought: "If we ever need a new recording of the Wilhelm scream, BDG is the man for the job."

BDG screaming and Dean Pelton from Community have the same energy :'D

Can I turn some of those green screen reactions at the end of the video into reaction gifs? 😂

re: Tragedy, the thing is, we can tell how much fun you're having, and it's contagious. those 20 minutes of wolf recording are solid gold

Drew Risch

How does he do it?! Banger after banger after banger! He's like a hit-singing machine!

Seconding the notion to just put these out at your whim/convenience, regardless of season or artist - B(DG)-sides! :D

I really hope that you make this a tradition, the covers are so good!

Important question as someone who is an actor in a murder mystery dinner. Does that fake blood wash out of the shirt??
