Pumpkin Cowboy is finally out there in the world, and I'm super proud of his debut.

I'll be honest and say that I don't expect this to be one of my more popular videos, but similar to Teaching Jake, it's one of my favorites, and I'm overwhelmingly glad with how it turned out. They say the only way to make people cry with something you made is if you cried while making it, and as embarrassing as it is to admit, this little pumpkin lad did indeed make me cry. I hope some of you connect with it in the same way!

Next month's video should be out a little sooner than the final few days of next month! Either way, I'll probably make another Progress Report post in the near future.

This video IS incredible! I genuinely felt the love and really enjoyed such an epic story starring such simple yet compelling characters😁

It’s a good thing you already had some expertise with miniatures! Also, that means you have a kindred spirit out there who decided that this pumpkin needed to be a cowboy… EDIT: I don't know how much reach it has outside the UK but I STRONGLY recommend you watch "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)" by Benny Hill if you liked this!

Pumpkin Cowboy is my new favorite american folktale. It reminded me of "Story from North America".

That ending got me choking up. Oddly beautiful.

Great making of! I love seeing your process. Pumpkin Cowboy will forever be a mystery, yes, but a beautiful and wholesome mystery.

Same here! Also, when the screen went black during the fight, I was legitimately on the edge of my seat, anxious about the result

It definitely made me choke up. It's a beautiful lil short film.

I liked Teaching Jake, but this one was just kinda weird

Thank you for continually putting such delightful, weird things onto the internet

This was wild.

I love how confident I am that the driving thrust of this whole video was just how good it sounded to sing "Pumpkin Cowboy" like that.

Brian. I got so nostalgic for the kinds of folk song stories I used to listen to as a kid with this. Perfect homage to the genre, hilarious and heartfelt. Amazing. Thank you for this joyous treat

Same here! It started whimsical and silly and then I was really anxious for Pumpkin Cowboy! Really enjoyed it!

Such a gorgeous tale. I also appreciate that both leads are lefties.

Also, can I just say, and I hope I don't sound creepy, but this making of was the cutest of them all? There is something really special about the behind the curtain of a sort of theatre puppet!

Trying to figure this out - you look like you're using software to get your camera feed direct from the camera onto your Macbook: is that correct and, if so, what's the name of the software? I've been doing something similar but far less elegantly: A Nikon D5300's preview mode, fed into my Elgato HD60s, then recorded using OBS. Gets the job done, but none of the tools are designed to do the thing they're doing and it shows.
