I am happy to announce that I have managed to implement 100% support for the new processors (ZEN3 APUs). There are no surprises, but the differences in architecture make themselves felt. The lower frequency and cache size significantly affect the results, but still, there is a 10-15% performance reserve.

Also the settings section has gone through a lot of changes and I have to completely redo all the documentation. At this point I can publish the build, but I'm afraid that this will cause you problems because of the new level of frequency control mechanisms.

For example. There is such a parameter as EDC throttling (CAC trigger), the CO value penalty depends on it. That is, this value determines where you can ramp up the frequency and where not. If this value is wrong you will get overboost with crash or low frequency. Also thanks to this value HYDRA is able to distinguish between load types. Of course all settings are universal by default, but nobody forbids you to try something of your own.

GAME Trigger. It would seem very simple (depending on the GPU load - activation of the game profile), but too low a value will activate a frantic game profile where you shouldn't (e.g. if you drag the application window), and this will cause a crash.

There are many such nuances and I would like to write about them all before you start trying. As for deadlines, I can get everything done within the next week :)

Hey Yuri . nicely done ! When are you releasing the dynamic update on Hydra - for me that is the most important ...support for the 5600G and similar where you cannot and there will not be much supply on the market is a bit... well...not a priority :). Great that you have managed to provide support but please do not lose track of what is important and that is HYDRA to really become a product CTR was not able too...otherwise we reach the same point as CTR...hope you really understand what I am saying and that you do not misunderstood me! Great work!

CTR works really good for me and my MSI x570GL & 5950X, really all it needs is a heavy AVX load and I wouldnt need Hydra.

CTR and HYDRA DO NOT WORK FOR ME, im on MSI x570 Creation, 5950x and custom loop, and each time i pass all the stability tests and save profiles, then i get reboots, the worse was with Hydra, took 6 hours to finish, i saved profiles and got reboot after reboot: Click to open image, reboot, click to open discord, reboot, and so on. Right now i just dont use the soft and have the CPU on defaults, for 4K gaming its more then fine. Ill wait for this new soft with EDC throttling, maybe it will work

This time APUs are available for retailers and I think this will be popular in the future. It is very important for me to evaluate how Zen 3 works in all possible modifications, so I will implement support for all Zen 3 processors. This also applies to the new sTRX and V-Zen 3. Yes, I understand you and I really want HYDRA to live up to your expectations.

1usmus

Wise decision, I only had time to release 1 alpha version.

Filippo Scarone

I've tested Hydra on my 5950x resulting in golden CCD1 e bronze CCD2. Strangely during diagnostic not the two best core were "Best" but others were in CCD 1. So my CPPC is leaving performance on the table. However Hydra was able to get better multicore oc than CTR with same voltage and better thermals. But I notice that Hydra 0.9A can only trigger AVX1 and AVX2 profile leaving the others unused. Am I forgetting something?

1usmus

Yes, you are correct in pointing out that the CPPC is broken. Two years ago I tried AMD to acknowledge the tagging problem, but they are silent. I really hope that our team can manually fix the core tags. Regarding the profiles. In build 0.9A only three profiles are working, the rest will be added this month

Hi Yuri. When do you anticipate a Version 1.0 (out of Alpha)?

1usmus

Hey! I think we will move to the beta stage this month. This will also be the 0.9 version. Version 1.0 is planned for next month.

I am attempting to use hydra on my 5600x on an MSI b550 unity and will keep receiving the following error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070424): The specified service does not exist as an installed service. at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o) at System.Management.ManagementScope.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Initialize() at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Get() at A.cc71f47d00b9f9b057530eb17539f5c33.cc3a5546ac9ee0530825958c5e8b80c62() I am able to run CTR RC5 without any errors. Thanks!

The issue seems to be tied to my use of OpenEDR. This was causing the application to be run in a sandbox.

Will there be Windows 11 support because when I open Hydra it's blank; although I do realize that's probably because 5600G is not yet supported?

Paul Milliman

I'm running Windows 11 Beta channel. It works fine for me. 5800x though.

William Harrison

I guess it's either my setup or I need to wait for the update.

William Harrison

Yes, but I can't use it because Windows 11 updates drivers to a newer version than AMD provides from the site so it breaks support.
