Whew, I can already tell that this comment will be extremely long, but I really like listening to your discussions at the end, so I wanted to talk about the whole Greta and Riley situation a bit. Sorry in advance lol! I think the hard part about Greta and Riley is the severe lack of communication between the two. And whenever they do communicate they don't talk about the things that actually matter (like a lot of teens lol). So as far as I understand, Riley has been very open about only hooking up with people and not really looking for anything serious. It was mentioned a few times, and they showed us her interactions with a few of the guys that she has hooked up with, but I think she also talked about it with Chester in the first part of the season. As for Greta, she comes across as someone who would prefer to have an actual relationship, and I think that's why Riley calls her sweet and says that she's not sure about pursuing it when she was talking to Chester. So the night in the hotel comes around and Riley has been realizing that she actually has feelings for Greta, and decides to take it a step further. I do think whether or not she went too fast is subjective. In my opinion, it would be a little fast for me if I just had my first kiss with someone else and they immediately started taking off their clothes, but everyone is different. In this moment, Greta freaks out and says she's "not like her" and she "doesn't just hook up." This is hurtful towards Riley, because Greta made an assumption that that was all she wanted from her. However, I do also understand why Greta would think that way, because up until that point Riley has only been hooking up with people. I agree that she should have just expressed that she didn't want to move that fast in a much nicer way. I don't think it was her intention to hurt Riley, but everything she said was inherently hurtful. Meanwhile for Riley, she was genuinely developing feelings for Greta, and I feel like she immediately went to take her clothes off because that's what she's used to doing at that point. I have always assumed that that is all she is used to people wanting from her, and until that point it was all she wanted from other people. But now, she really likes Greta and doesn't know how to express that without immediately jumping to sex because that's what she's used to. So when Greta rejects her, it is the ultimate heartbreak. As the viewer, we know that Greta and Riley both have feelings for each other. But for them in the hotel, I think Greta thinks that Riley only wants to hook up and doesn't actually want a relationship with her because she knows that prior to that Riley has only been hooking up (for example: the guy they met at the aquarium and how Greta watched them walk away together to go hook up). And I think Riley is heartbroken that Greta rejected her, and maybe feels like Greta doesn't actually like her either because she's not used to people not wanting sex from her. I also agree with what you said about them just breezing by the situation. Riley was hurt by what Greta said, and she went and hooked up with Luz right after. I think for her this feels like she betrayed Greta in a way. Even though they aren't in a relationship, I assume she knows Greta will be angry with her if she finds out about her and Luz. And I think Riley feels guilty about the whole thing with Luz, so she doesn't feel like Greta needs to apologize because she's sitting on this big secret. As for Greta, I think she's just really oblivious, and was mad at Riley because she assumes she only wants sex from her. Again, this could be so easily addressed in a conversation, but instead Riley avoids Greta for a while and then they slowly start becoming friends again without actually addressing their issues. As for Luz, yeah it certainly feels like she's just here to be a shit disturber. And it's interesting how she hooks up with Riley and then immediately switches up to being sweet and going slow with Greta. It all just feels so calculated to me. Maybe I'm also biased because I'm team Riley lol. But yeah this sucks, because Greta already thinks that Riley only wanted sex from her, and here comes Luz taking things slow, so she entertains it (insert eye roll here) instead of just communicating with Riley and apologizing for how she reacted. The funny part about this whole situation is that they could have had a simple conversation about what they both actually wanted and that would've sorted it out. This is why I love generation though, because at the end of the day a lot of people simply do not communicate. It also manages to show that every single character has their own perspective of the exact same scene, which is so realistic. And yes I think the whole show exudes chaotic energy, which is why I love watching. It's like a train wreck that I just can't look away from. I'm excited to watch the rest with you!

Jessie Dobbie Reactions

That was very deep and perfectly said! I think you're right about your assesment on both their parts and yes, communication is key. It's funny how simple of a thing it is, yet that seems to be the issue in majority of most relationships, or potentially relationships. It comes along with being vunerable and that is something that is hard for a lot of people.
