Thank you as always for wonderful reactions to Season 1 of Black Sails. I think you kind of hit the nail on the head when you said Vane for you was not exactly likeable, but interesting to watch and your conflict on Flint as a character. I think this is true for a lot of those characters on this show. They are charismatic, they have a fascinating story to tell, but only very few of them are truly likeable. I would say my most liked character by end of S1 was Jack, but I think Flint would be my favorite character to watch by sheer power of his screen presence. He makes those horrible decisions, but he considers his dream worthy of all those cruel sacrifices. I always found it fascinating that for a show about pirates the pure greed is rarely their motivation. There is drive for power, for revenge, for establishing position in society. Even this huge gold treasure for main characters is more about what this money represents for their future then money itself. For the crews it is greed. But our main characters have loftier goals. By your comments I can tell you already feel some directions that the show will move its characters towards. So I think this coming seasons will give you a few 'I knew it!' moments but also some surprises :) See you back on the sea in Season 2 :)

Flint is definitely in the same boat (hehe) as Vane for me now in regards to me enjoying watching him, but I don't think he will ever be a favorite for me. Hard to say though, because there have been a lot of shows where I absolutely hate someone and then love them by season 3! Not that I hate him, actually I may have said that LOL It's just the brilliant way that they created so much doubt and distrust around his character truly made you feel like you were in the shoes of Billy and I think that's why I could never from the beginning say that I liked him. I could never feel like I actually trusted him and he makes me feel slightly threatened, but ironically I think that's also why he makes a great captain. I can't wait to start Season 2!
