love the concerned citizens merch! yeah i think the ending is brian accepting that the hot young thing is always gonna come around and maybe his time is over and being okay with it. that’s what this whole story has been since he was rejected earlier in the season. he spiraled because it had never happened before and he’s always been so insecure about aging and not being wanted and it became this whole mess. i hated the brandon storyline (it was frustrating to watch after he had made so much progress) but i do think it needed to happen for him to finally get to this place of understanding and accepting it. i think the talks with ted where he finally voiced his deep rooted issues aloud and his talk with lindsay where he does look properly scolded and regretful did play a role. he knows the game is getting old and he’s already lost the two people in his life that mean the most to him over it so i think it all just came to a head when he got no real satisfaction over winning this bet and that’s why he sent brandon away and let him back in the club. what i always find interesting about his talk with ted is he says “which is probably why I am unwilling or unable to form a committed long-term relationship of my own” and that’s so easy to overlook except brian always frames it as he can, he just won’t (he even did it in the breakup last episode) and for once, he’s finally being truthful and saying maybe it is more than just his being unwilling. i think he is afraid that he genuinely can’t sustain it and will ruin it so he won’t let himself go there. hopefully he’ll be able to trust in himself enough someday.

Love the merch!! I’ll be honest, I have a really hard time with the back-petaling with Brian’s character. I understand the purpose and all that, and actually really like the clear divide between Brian and Michael during it all, but it’s just so frustrating to watch.

I agree in that I understand the purpose too, but it is frustrating. However, knowing people that are like Brian def helps in regards to knowing just how accurate some of these situations are lol
