I'm glad that you're able to catch how Paulina talks, since just the reading the subtitles doesn't fully give it away! The way she jumps from one sentence to the next while waiting for María José at the airport is pretty hilarious. María José has arrived, one of my other favorites. She becomes a series regular now that I'm excited for us to get to know better. One thing that I love about the character is that among a bunch of zany people in the family we'll often see that she's the sensible "straight man" in the group, which is ironic for obvious reasons. :) Her name is also creatively done. María is pretty unambiguously a girl's name in Spanish, except the old-fashioned double name of "José María" does still exist for boys as a religion-based name (Joseph Mary) that held on. So the fact that the writers found a name that manages to have that feminine "María" piece that they could then use to flip the name to now be uncommon for girls to have a name containing the masculine "José" is pretty clever! One last fun fact: Virginia's actress almost didn't accept the role because she wasn't a fan of her character smoking marijuana. That re-surprises me in watching this again, since I'd forgotten just how involved the drug plotline was!
