Get Carter- Thank you again, so much for another great reaction for another great episode, Jessie! I really love this episode a lot! This episode is Carter's time to shine, which I really love. Especially because we learn a little more as to why Carter winds up quitting her job as an army investigator, and returns home to become a cop/detective so she can be more out in the front to try to save as many lives as she can. Also... From the look on her face in the end while she's talking with her son inside the diner about her job and he finally asks her who has her back, when she observes Reese driving away on his motorcycle, not knowing for a certainty that the bicyclist is her protector despite her suspecting that he is this bicyclist, we can see that she just might be coming around to understanding that Reese isn't as much of a bad guy like she's believed up until this point. Because he has risked his own life and has risked getting caught in order to save her from being killed the night before. And it's fantastic!!! :) Most of all... I absolutely love Reese's drive to keep Carter safe and seeing him fight against all of those he feels could be a threat against her. I love how Reese believes that Carter is someone who this world can't afford to live without. It is wonderful to see a man who is being hunted by everyone, yet devotes himself to saving someone who would arrest him without batting an eyelash simply because Reese goes against the law in the most unorthodox of ways. And while Reese doesn't kill unless he absolutely has to, there is always a mess left behind after he steps in. So, I certainly understand Carter's perspective and uneasiness towards what Reese and Finch are doing. In her eyes, Reese is nothing more than a dangerous vigilante. Or at least until now. I suspect she might be thinking a little differently. Or at least by Reese saving her life, she might suspect there's more to him than just a regular vigilante. I love it!! Now, in regards to the threat which Kovack, the abusive husband imposes towards Carter... Reese and Finch suspect that Kovack might be a bigger threat to Carter than they initially thought, after they overhear him threatening her in the bar when she goes to see him and warn him not to ever hurt his wife again. It is probable he could have made a call to a friend to help him take care of her, or he made plans to kill Carter off screen by venting to a friend over his phone in public or in some other manner. Otherwise, the Machine wouldn't have seen him as a threat to her unless Elias had already gotten to him to use him against Carter, given that his actions would be more impulsive than planned. Reese and Finch only sees Kovack more as a threat to Carter because they personally heard his threat against her inside the bar. Yet Kovack has been established as a suspect from the beginning. I'm not sure how the Machine could really see him as a threat, but I still love that Reese takes him down and saves the wife for Carter, knowing how much doing so means to Carter. Next... I really love seeing Reese take down Hector and the gun runner's men once and for all, after trying to knock them out of the game earlier on by charging into their place of business to steal their guns and Hector's car. Reese is fantastic! And then... My favorite moment within this episode comes in the ending, when Reese saves Carter's life from her crooked criminal informant who has been paid off by Elias to kill Carter for him. I didn't see this twist coming either and it's brilliant! And I love the moment Reese takes to warn Carter to be careful while keeping his face hidden from her in the shadows, but also to assure her that she's not alone like she's been told by a number of people she's known in her life. The soldier in Afghanistan, Elias' father in prison, as well as Elias himself as she reads his warning that he leaves for her on the card with the flowers on her desk at the precinct. And I especially love the moment between Reese and the dirty police Captain, as Reese threatens him and Elias if they ever attempt to hurt Carter again. Reese may be soft spoken, but he is certainly terrifying when he needs to be. And like you... I absolutely believe his threat against the corrupt Captain. Reese won't stand for innocent people getting hurt by him, Elias, or any more of the crooked police in the city working for them. And Reese certainly means business. This is dangerous of Reese to do, because there may very well be consequences to this action, but I love this moment for Reese nonetheless. Such brilliant scenes! And what a fantastic episode! I absolutely love that Reese confronts Carter in the end as he stays hidden in the shadows and tells her that she isn't alone. I love how he lets her know that he's always going to be there to have her back. Whether or not this will make Carter think twice about trying to catch the "man in the suit"... Just keep watching. :) I also really like the backstory for Carter. Her devotion to stop other soldiers from being killed and her drive to protect the man most everyone else saw as just another terrorist. It is really sad that he winds up being killed in the end, and seeing the other soldiers so cold towards his death. But his death just adds so much more drive to Carter's character so that she became the woman she is now. There is so much driving her character, and I really love Carter! Especially after this episode. Oh... And Reese also calls her by her first name when he finally confronts her too. As we find out that her name is Joss, or Josslyn. I love how Fusco tries to convince her to tell him her first name, only for Carter to simply state that it's "Detective", which tells us that she is still unsure if she can completely trust Lionel Fusco. And I love this too. My favorite line within this episode, spoken by Reese to Finch... "She's not just another number, Finch. There's some people the world can't afford to lose." Wonderful! And absolutely fabulous coming from Reese, as these words continue to show us just how good he really is. :) Overall... Get Carter is an amazing episode! And now... I can't wait for the next episode!!! It's one of my favorites from season one, and it's going to be marvelous! :) Until then, my dear friend... Thank you! Sincerely, Heidi
