I told you. Tissues are a necessity! They really sat down and thought, "YEAH, LETS BRING BACK THE ANNE EPISODE!" to immediately set the tone for the movie. Cruel! I love this one so much. Not only did they catch up with characters in flashbacks we also just saw some of them without really focusing on them. For example, Irma, the opera singer was the girl that read the sea hymn in the beginning. And in the future with Anne´s granddaughter you can see Taylor on the company picture in the museum, so she probably really started working there. Just like with the first movie, this ending feels bittersweet to me. I´m happy Violet got to reunite with Gilbert. And I guess it makes sense to work on the island when the job started to fade away in the big city. But it still feels kinda sad that she abandoned her life in Leiden, and her friends. In order to be with Gilbert. I´m just choosing to believe that they visit Violet regularly because I guess she and Gilbert can´t really return without Gil getting dragged back into the military, and obligations due to his family name etc. About Gilbert in general, I love how long it took you that he was alive, despite the movie cutting to him multiple times before. I think it´s fun that he became a teacher, it parallels the time he spend with Violet teaching her. So teaching is probably his real passion in life, since the military stuff was just an obligation he took upon himself to please his father. So in a way Violet might be the reason he found out that he enjoyed that, and she had made an impact to his life. Just like he did for her. Oh, I also really enjoyed how the last scene with Violet and Gilbert ends with the letter flying away, just like the Pilot started with Violet´s letter flying out the window. It came full circle. Overall, I adore this story and the world so much! It was a great journey. And you are welcome for me forcing you to experience, and cry about it, too.

Yeah, to him looking at the flowers, saying "Violet" and the kid correcting him that it´s a different flower, and then to the girl asking him to write a letter to her father. Which is the letter that was later found by Hodgins which caused them to find Gilbert in the first place.. They didn´t show much of his face the first times though.
