I think they tricked us with the first 3 episodes making us expect Matt everywhere now. Atleast I haven´t seen him in this one either, but I definitely saw a lookalike in one of the new episodes, so maybe he is just showing up ocassionally. Keyleth is definitely strong. She is basically the magic powerhouse of the group, while everyone else is more physical or in case of Scanlan or Pike support based. The thing with her is, despite being strong she lacks experience and confidence in her abilities, so while she can be a force to be reckoned with she doesn´t really know how to utilize it in the most efficient way. I was surprised they actually split Pike up. That also happened in the campaign, due to Ashley being busy filming a TV show she was frequently missing. I was really expecting them to just retcon it to make her stick around more often. But it gave us those really sweet moments with Grog, so it´s ok. Also in the actual campaign they took Trinket with them. So that´s a change. I hope Trinket isn´t just dropped for the rest of the season. As for Percy, I think you already nailed it. He is used to rely only on himself. And he knows what the Briarwoods are capable of, so while he is part of the group he doesn´t expect them to get dragged into it. Part of it might also be his noble upbringing. He is an aristocrat and sees it as solely his responsibility to deal with this. Oh and yes you can watch campaign 1. The banquet you saw in the last episode is in episode 24 of the campaign, so you will be fine for a while.

My suggestion would be that you watch campaign 2. set in the same world but it's not connected to campaign 1 like 3 is (it's spoilery because some characters have backstory related to vox machina and other characters within their story) You could watch campign 1, but honestly, I'd trust the show to give you all the info you need. Campaign 1 has no beginning because they were playing at home for 2 and a half years, so the vox machina origins comics are the only thing that show how they meet and where they come from. They have been good about feeding us with small info and veentually I believe the show will teach everyone about their backstories in small bursts. So yeah if you want to experience a critical role campaign, 2 is the best, it starts with the characters meeting, the production value is significantly better than campaign 1 as well.

Someone pointed out that one of the shadow demons has a Matt like hair do lol Idk if it’s true or just a coincidence though! I love that combination for Keyleth, it’s more interesting to go that route than the I’m a cocky know it all way. I hope Trinket isn’t dropped either!! Have you seen that show Ashley was in? I wonder if it’s any good.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions! I’m definitely going to look into the comics also, I heard there’s an audio book for Vax and Vex’s origin story and will probably start that tonight!

It's called Blindspot. I only watched a couple of episodes and it's alright.

Vox Machina is Campaign 1, Mighty Nein is Campaign 2, and the Campaign 3 group doesn't have a name yet. I always tear up with Keyleth showing how powerful she is with that sunlight thing and the end with Pike, no matter how many times I've seen it through reactions. I think a lot of my emotions when it comes to Keyleth are because in the fandom, Keyleth and her voice actress (and the person who actually played her on Critical Role) get so much hate for no reason. So seeing her power and seeing her prove people wrong just gets me emotional.

Really?! I love Keyleth! Scanlon is my favorite because I always go where the comedy is, but if I had to choose a second I would say Keyleth. I bet she gets hate because of jealousy, her character is so bad ass!
