I´m so glad I´m not the only one that felt like this didn´t feel like a season finale. Like, compared to the season 1 finale there is so much less going on in this episode. And even the previous episode felt so much more exciting than this one, mainly because we saw the play. And all the setup they threw in last episode kinda fell flat in the end. I mean, the season 1 finale also had some flaws and plotpoints that got forgotten. Like remember how the principle confronted Mr. Mazzara and Ms Jenn about the fire? And then nothing really happened with that in season 2? It´s still a nice episode, but kinda anticlimactic. So glad they didn´t put Rini back together, they had a nice moment though. And I´m not sure you catched that, but Nini saying "Just for a moment" referenced the song Ricky wrote for her in season 1. Big Red´s surprise was cute, but also not as big as what they teased it as. But I like that it kinda felt like a callback to Red means love, with the "our name in lights" line. And even in the music video for that song we see a big Ashlyn light sign. I LOVE Second Chances so much. When they are walking in the hallway they also already changed into their season 1 episode 1 outfits, and when they then stand next to each other they are in their audition outfits. It made me so nostalgic and emotional. It just reminds me how far those 4 have come. Gina moved on from being so competitive and mean, Nini figured herself out. Ricky is starting to get a fresh start. And EJ still doesn´t know what he wants now that Duke isn´t his way anymore. Also, that they gave this song to those 4 signals to me that the writers consider EJ and Gina as maincharacters just as much as Ricky and Nini are. And I love that. Since this means they almost definitely won´t remove EJ in season 3. About Ms Jenn´s lovetriangle. I´m not sure what I want. I prefer Mike, but I like Benjamin. But I also don´t really want Mazzy to give up on Caltech solely for Ms Jenn. I think he should take that offer, if he wants to. Which I´m not even sure he truly wants to anyway. I feel like he might be happy at East High and with being there for his students, and that´s all he needs. Caltech might have been his dream once upon a time, but just like Ms Jenn, and Nini, he found a new one. And being a teacher at this High School is his passion. I´m happy Portwell figured things out. I was really on the fence about them for the entire time, but in the end, I only really want both of them to be happy. I still don´t like that Ricky called Lily. Come on man! Focus on yourself! Also, if they start to date, it will definitely come out eventually that she stole the harness and sabotaged them, and then Ricky will have the next break up upon him. I´m kinda let down by the Menkies plotline. It was the focus for the entire season and now they just... drop out? It feels kinda dumb. Like ok, you feel like you did what you wanted to do, and you are proud of yourself and happy. But, just give it a shot? Just don´t see it like "We have to win no matter what", but do it anyway. It´s not even about the award itself, but the 50.000$ and the scholarship for NYU are stuff they shouldn´t just give up on. The school still could use the money, and it would still be a great opportunity for whoever might get that scholarship. I really hope Kourtney didn´t actually burn it and looked inside it. But I´m not sure how they would handle it if the Menkies are a part of season 3. I feel like they would need to wrap that up in 1 episode. So they can focus on the likely summer break plotline for season 3. So now I don´t know what to do each friday. I miss this show already a lot. But I´m looking forward to your reactions for the extra content. By the way, in case you feel like you need more music after HSMTMTS. Might I suggest you check out Julie and the Phantoms? If you haven´t watched that in private already atleast. It´s only 9 episodes, so it wouldn´t take that long. And it´s directed by Kenny Ortega, the guy that made HSM, so it´s really good. I think you would enjoy that show a lot.
