Skam Season 4 Episode 7 We have to stick together

Ophelia

This is probably one of my favorite episodes of the season. I love Isak and Sana's friendship so much. It was so heart-warming that Isak took the fall for her. They are both such well-written characters, so flawed and make bad decisions at times, but so human and impossible to not love. Like I've said so many times, that is my favorite part about Skam, how the main characters are never perfect and a big part of the story is their character growth. And it's not just simple story of someone learning something about themselves, but truly becoming better and more kind people. I feel like the 'becoming better people' storyline is usually reserved for side-characters or antagonist, because people want main characters to still be likable. But Skam really makes their main characters actually have to change and be better people. Their conversation at the end is really powerful. Like Isak said, "when you go looking for hate, you find it." Of course, there are terrible people in the world and a lot of hate isn't "provoked" at all. But with characters like Isak and Sana, they were both very hateful/spiteful towards others because of their hatred for themselves. They found some hatred and problems with friendships/relationships because they were looking for things to validate their own self-hatred. And like you and Sana said, being gay and being Muslim are completely different, but their journeys to accepting themselves and learning to move past the hate is quite similar. It's frustrating that they were more mad about the profile than about Sara's words, but like Isak and you said, they are just like her. They probably say the exact same things behind Sara and everyone else's backs as well.
