Angelette Archembeau is the owner of a bookstore, which employs, among many others, Calum Surdust. Calum is legally deaf, and is likely to completely loose his hearing completely within the next few years. He's preparing for that day by limiting himself and learning how to use his other senses, wearing headphones, a mask, and covering his eyes with his hair.

Angelette is a Calxe, a species of demon that uses black mist as a form of travel and teleportation. Calum is a Praesegen, a species of demon that reflect magical spells cast on them, though not as powerful.

The duo are secretly interested in each other, but neither know nor do they want to compromise their professional relationship as employer-employee.

Angelette's childhood friend, Camielia Whillhouse, who is a Lapin de Chance, is completely caught up on their romantic-tension filled history, and can tell from a mile away that the two have the hots for each other. However, she believes it's not her place to play cupid, so she simply observes and gives advice to Angelette when asked.

Calum was raised by his birth mother, Caroline Surdust, who remarried a few years ago to an Algodon woman named Janine Lebhaar. Calum's birth parents separated when he was very young, and he inherits his hearing loss from his dad's side of the family.

Fun Fact: Calum and Angelette used to be human high school students in a similar dynamic of crushing on each other while not knowing. However, they had been named Anne Pearl Wait and Craig Sunkess. I had put them on the back burner of my character creations since a few months after their inception almost 8 years ago.
