Reborn Assassin

Reborn Assassin is a few days away from entering it's fourth volume.

I've had a blast working on it, and I'm very attached to the characters, but the last thing I want to do is feel trapped in writing it when the creative well is running dry. I'm tentatively planning for volumes 4 and 5 to wrap up most of the mysteries and story threads.

I admit that it has a lot of problems. I keep telling myself to plan carefully through every detail, but then I store that stuff in the back of my mind where I eventually forget it and lose sight of my original intent.

This isn't a declaration that I'm abandoning it. There's a lot of stuff to go through and these two volumes will probably be pretty long. There's also the possibility that I return to this setting in the future and explore new characters and ideas within it.

Fun fact: Durandia was originally intended to be a character in my previous web serial (Knight of Corruption) but I decided to scrap that concept and bring it over to Reborn Assassin.

Anyway, don't worry too much about it ending soon. We've essentially passed the 3/5th mark, and it's already pretty damn long.

ACID

I originally wrote a large quantity of ACID before scrapping it all and deciding to start over again from the beginning. Now that I'm some way into the process of reworking it - I realize that I don't like it still.

I want to find time to write a second story, but ACID is not motivating me in the way I thought it would. There are a lot of concepts in that mix that I really want to use, and maybe I will eventually, but if I can't make it work - or I can't be happy with it, then you folks reading it probably aren't going to like it either.

Basically, it's scrapped. I'm sorry to the handful of you that checked it out on here - but I really want to give it more time to formulate before diving in headfirst.

Okay, so what's next?

You might be thinking "What is this arsehole planning to do then?"

At the moment I'm tentatively planning to write a shorter novel (50k words approx.) for the purpose of trying out Kindle Unlimited. Since technically I can still share it before I upload it there, I'd like to share it with you so you can enjoy it/offer feedback. I don't like dangling content in front of people and then taking it away, so it'll likely remain Patreon exclusive until then.

As for the 'web novel' spot in my schedule, I'm once again thinking of something entirely different. I've done a high fantasy LitRPG, an industrial revolution villainess isekai action comedy, so it only seems right that we take another step forward and explore the present/future.

There are a few competing concepts in my mind at the moment. (Titles are WIP)

1) BARDPUNK: a cyberpunk comedy/drama anthology series following an eclectic man and his keytar.

2) STAINCROSS: A contemporary supernatural story where a group of strangers are afflicted by strange events happening around their hometown.

3) WEIRD ROBOT THING: A (kinda' LitRPG adjacent) adventure story about a damaged robot exploring a strange world and slowly piecing himself back together.

None of these are certain.

But I'd also like to hear from you guys. Do any of these interest you, or do you have a genre/conceit in mind that you'd really like to see?

If you've read this whole post - thanks for listening to my rambling again. See you soon.

Bardpunk and Weird robot things are the choices that I like the most in this list personally :)

Here’s an idea I’ve been wanting to implement but will probably never do. Cyberpunk like world. MC reincarnated as android daughter of a genius robotics scientist (first their kind) who wanted a daughter of her but couldn’t have children of her own. To learn more about the world and humans she decides to send her to a highschool as a human student. MC shares knowledge of what they are with a group of friends at school after using their hacking abilities to save them one. After several mini adventures doing things they probably shouldn’t be the android is discovered by a special division of the police force. More like FBI+NSA combined. The director there knows the mother (which android tells) of the android (doesn’t know she’s an android at the time) and speaks to her mother about the incident and the truth revealed to him. He proposes to come and work for him at his department who stops cybercrime, and violent crime.

Theres still more to it. That’s the start and middle without much detail but that’s the atmosphere
