Finally, it is January. I have many news to share and I do not know where to start!
First of all, of course, I wanna just take the time to thank all y'alls for supporting me. It's just really been encouraging and empowering. Thank you so much!
With that said...
December 2021 -- The Report!
Progress is being made!
Nancy game!
Here's some good news: The month starts with learning a little bit more about C++. I've made three breakthroughs on how to program using it near the beginning of the month. I won't bore you with the technicalities, but here's what I managed to make work:
- Porting Nancy's basic default movements (will need to change it later for 60 FPS)
- Multiple "Sections" for a single level (although the only application for it yet is switching back and forth between two sections every time Nancy jumps, for testing purposes)
- Terrain behavior.
I'm aware that this might not sound like much but boy did I slam my head against the wall for it lol.
Good morning, Lexa!
Art: Doodles and Practice!
Near the end of the month is when I got back into the art, but this time I wanted to improve. The focus: Construction, anatomy and line thickness. Here's what got:
v The Good v
Nancy flying over the clouds.
Rachael getting carried away.
Reese just being cute.
Riley is relaxing.
v The Less Good But Surprisingly Still Acceptable v
Velvera enjoys a small space. The proportions are a little bit too over the place and there's a tangent with her long hair.
Nancy strolling along the walls. The legs are a bit too long methinks.
Ryanne invites you to swim with her. It didn't turn out too bad, I just struggled a lot with this one lol.
v The Ones I Think Came Out Great v
Ludaira looking very, very comfy.
Riley just spacing out.
Reese being nervous and excited (and adorable).
(+ the morning Lexa at the top of this section)
All in all, I think I hit a stride here. The floor rose and so did the ceiling. Really felt like things clicked!
Culminating into my last art of last year:
Just a really good-lookin' Bunnydew to close out the year.
Seeing what I had learned applied with colors and stuff made me really happy. Felt like I levelled up. =w=
January 2022 -- The So Far and The Plan
A Riley for the new year.
I really really wanted to draw something to start the new year on a good foot, and I think I did it.
Here are my plans for January 2022:
- More practice. Low-stake doodles. Target: Something for every day, not matter how ambitious.
- More programming. Target: Getting terrain collisions to work fully for Nancy vs solid and semi-solid tiles, then maybe get slopes to work once again.
All-in-all, it'll be quite a month. I hope you'll look forwards to the results on next-month's update.
Oh speaking of which.
Announcement: Updates will now be monthly.
Weekly reports didn't really seem to gel with me so much, so instead I wanna try doing it monthly. Look forwards to updates containing the Idyoffs (going to rename these soon don't worry), Report for the last month and Plans for the near future!
As always, thank you so much for the support. I'll update y'all next month! See ya soon!
