In the city of Lakertown, Markus Faoláin is an older Irish wolf who works as a freelance contract killer for the criminal underworld. He also lives a solitary existence within his penthouse apartment, struggling with nightmares that haunt him about his painful past. One summer, Markus befriends a nineteen year-old male prostitute who prefers to be called 'Cherry', and regularly hires the androgynous ocelot for his 'services' in-between jobs.

Suddenly one night, both of them are almost gunned down in the ocelot's motel room, and discover that a mysterious serial killer is after Cherry for unknown reasons. Wanting revenge for the attempted murder and concerned for Cherry's safety, Markus reluctantly switches from the role of a ruthless hitman into a detective. Who hired the two thugs that wanted the ocelot dead? Why do they want him dead?

As more questions are asked and fewer answers are found, Markus slowly begins to realize two important things: One, this serial killer is calculating. And two, he is beginning to fall in love with Cherry.
