So I'm sitting over here working on the poll which will be up later this afternoon and I've been thinking a lot about the First-Come-First-Serve system that I tried out this month for selecting poll characters.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback on this month's selection system, both in public and in private. Your feedback will help me shape the system going forward.

On the positive side, this outing at least did do what I wanted it to do: select characters for the poll in a straightforward manner while providing a little favor to higher tiers.

That said, I suspect one of the major reasons it felt more balanced is simply because fewer people put in requests this month. Even with that, there are some unintended features of the system that I'm not entirely happy with.

Now, some of these issues could be mitigated next month when deferrals aren't using up 7 slots. That alone would have given more $3 patrons a chance to suggest a character, but even that won't fix one extremely pertinent issue:

Time Zones.

Any patrons around the globe whose local time is sufficiently offset from my own are automatically at a disadvantage in a first-come-first-serve system. Even if I announce the thread 24-48 hours in advance, I can't really ask someone to wake up at 4AM to improve their chances at making a suggestion.

To that end, I have someone helping me develop a new selection method. It will certainly have it's own quirks, I'm sure, but it will eliminate the issue with Time Zones while still giving everyone a chance at getting a character on the poll.

Anyway, I'll announce how the next version of the system will work in detail a little closer to the time to use it.

Thank you all for your support and patience!
