In the original rainbow flag design from 1978, the fourth stripe was yellow and it was meant to represent sunlight.

As the model for yellow, Diego stands for celebrating the beauty and joy of the sunny days, but also making peace with the rainy days, and learning to make your own light when the sky is grey. For him, Pride is about not only accepting, but celebrating what makes you different, what makes you unique, and using it to shine. It's not about acknowledging your scars anymore, it's about putting glitter on them and celebrating that they make you who you are.

So yellow stands for sunlight, yes, but more importantly, it stands for making your own light and sharing it with others around you. It's easy to feel like the whole world is dark sometimes, but even in the worst moments, there is light to be found, and the more we add to it, the brighter it will shine.
