This is the episode Michael Emerson who played Ben won the Emmy for! His second. His first was as a guest actor playing a murderer on a crime drama years prior. One could make the argument that Ben could've just left Alex with Danielle and not taken her, but I wonder if it's possible the area Danielle and Alex were in didn't have enough food for two and by taking her he was actually saving one of them from dying. Just my own head canon theory. Sections of the island don't have as much food and water as where the 815 main group survivors landed. It's good that Ben didn't want little Charlie to grow up without a mother like he had to. I'm afraid Kim misheard. Richard said "The sub's about to leave.", not son. Also, one cryptic out of context word related to this episode I wanna tease with: Superman. That's all I'll say. More on that after the end of the season.
