I'm a little confused about the groupings of this poll. I assumed there'd be Halloween-specific polls to fill out October, but here we have Halloween-appropriate movies mixed with random titles.

Since we are doing rotating genre-specific polls now, while still continuing to do mixed live action and mixed wild card polls, this is exactly how they said it was going to be implemented. I wasn't being pessimistic when I said the previous poll was the best chance The Exorcist ever had of actually getting a Storm Akima reaction. That's why I was I only hoping and asking for a tie from the group; these culturally significant and popular (but pre-80s old) classics just never win here. And in the world of horror, even modern classics like Train To Busan struggle. EDIT: The Godfather seems to have a chance of winning atm, but I can see it being overtaken by The Mist or Blade Runner 2049 here, at least for 2nd place. Nope, I can definitely see being the winner. The Exorcist had a 3% lead last poll early on, but we saw what happened there.

For about 3 to 4 movies overall, actually, but the one currently on this poll is The Exorcist; released a year after your movie and actually both playing important parts in the American New Wave film movement where new young directors deviated from the old Hollywood norms and snatched control from the big studios to implement their full vision in the filmmaking process as full on authors of their films. Its the very important film era where all the modern big influential American directors like Coppola, Spielberg, Friedkin, Lucas, Scorsese first rose to prominence. And both The Godfather and Exorcist helped pave the way. Its also the one modern era that struggles the most to win on polls here. 😞

Just a heads up, "The Mist" is another adaptation of a Stephen King story by Frank Darabont, but as good as you felt at the end of "The Shawshank Redemption," be prepared to feel the opposite. I'd love to see Mom get to watch "The Princess Bride" this time though, I felt bad she couldn't the last time :D

How is it that 5 of the movies this week are repeats from last week (with Nope somehow making it onto a third poll in a row)? I can understand The Exorcist considering it finished 2nd, but H3 got 1% and Rocky Horror got 2%. Maybe there needs to be a minimum threshold where stuff gets dropped so that other movies have a chance to appear on a poll.
