You should do blade runner 2049 when you get to a live action.

I'm confused a bit. Are the requests we should be making here in this thread for a normal any kind of movie (1st Monday- REQUESTS Only (Request here in comments below) Please limit requests to your top 5 😘😘), or are they for a Horror Genre Poll for next week (Genre Specific Movie POLL (Live Action & Animation))? I assumed the former, but after re-reading it I realized I may have presumed incorrectly and I should have made exclusively Horror movies requests. Edit: Or is it the first week is up for any kind of requests, and those requests will be for filtered into whichever genre poll it fits into for the other 3 weeks? Like how Friday the 13th for example could be in both a Horror poll, or in a Live Action poll.

Yeah, the scheduling is confusing. Regardless, I think it's a good general idea for people to note what GENRE the movie is they're requesting. It looks like Storm Akima might try to implement genre-specific polls in the future, and it might help them if people mentioned the genre in the comments.

All of my requests are for the Spooky Season. PAN’S LABYRINTH (2006): Guillermo Del Toro wrote/directed and it’s part gothic fairy tale, part horror, part historical drama. It is rather dark at times, but I think the rich cinematography and character interactions make it a rewarding watch. This is subtitled, by the way. MISERY (1990): A bunch of reactors have done this one lately and it occurred to me that you guys would enjoy this. Rob Reiner directed this based on a Stephen King book. Kathy Bates actually won an Oscar. LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021): A few people have mentioned this. Very stylish with great set design and music choices. It may fly off the rails a bit, but that’s the risk of trying something new. Edgar Wright directed, though I'm not sure it really closely resembles his other movies. HELLBOY: DIRECTOR’S CUT (2004): Guillermo Del Toro again. No, this isn’t horror, but it does have a very Halloween feel. There is a scene that takes place on Halloween, and the color grading is very autumnal. There is also a general tone of melancholy that is kind of beautiful and unexpected for this genre. This has a lot more atmosphere and visual style than most recent comic book movies. THE RING (2002): Rated PG-13, but the atmosphere and sense of portent this manages to conjure up is something else. The director is Gore Verbinski, who oddly also directed the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. The Ring also has the most engaging sequence of someone doing Google searches that I can remember ever seeing in a movie. (I’d guess that would be a difficult thing to make compelling.)

I am also a little confused about the polling system. Who is selecting a genre? Will you post asking for suggestions of that genre? Or should they be on this post? The Addams Family - family/comedy; Perfect for fall/Halloween! Snowpiercer - sci-fi/thriller; It's time you guys were introduced to Bong Joon Ho. Legally Blonde - comedy; You guys would love this one. School of Rock - comedy; I've suggested this in the past. I think Kim would love it because she almost always knows the lyrics to the songs in the movie you're watching. La La Land - musical/romance; It's been forever since this was on a poll!

I also would like to see Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy! Those are great suggestions for this time of year.

WastedPo

These are all great suggestions. It turns out they actually watched the Addams Family. However, they never got around to "Addams Family Values," which many prefer over the original. Maybe this year they could finally get around to it?

rhaegar

I've even watched that reaction and totally forgot! Thanks for reminding me. In that case I suggest Addams Family Values which in some ways I think is even better than the first.

School Of Rock and La La Land are great choices but, sadly, I can’t see them watching those anytime soon. Between the types of movies that people have been pushing really hard for these past few months, as well as the fact that I can already guess what they’ll be watching the next few weeks, fun movies like these don’t stand much of a chance unfortunately.

rhaegar

False Nine, I totally get what you mean. It’s hard for middle of the road movies that aren’t blockbusters or animation to win on this channel. But they have reacted to some that I really wanted to see eventually (The Social Network, Room, Good Will Hunting, Crazy Rich Asians are some I can think of). Hopefully doesn’t take years for them to watch some of these!

Well, with a bunch of shows finishing up right now (and in the near future), hopefully they’ll consider adding a third movie from time to time instead of wasting four months on a show that no one’s watching like Agent Carter. That would definitely be a plus for a movie like La La Land which probably wouldn’t stand a chance otherwise. Plus, they’re almost guaranteed to be watching Elvis soon with the way everyone keeps bringing it up for some reason, so maybe that’ll get them in the mood for more musically themed movies like Moulin Rouge and, dare to dream, the South Park movie.

Darius.

In the long run this probably won't matter, but I'll put these here just in case. Although I'm not sure how you're choosing Genres, I decided to have top picks for Horror/Halloween and top picks for general others. Halloween/Horror: "Splice" (2009) "Deep Blue Sea" (1999) "Under the Skin" (2013) "The Shallows" (2016) "Let The Right One In" (2008) General recommendations: "Sunshine" (2007) Genre: Sci-fi Thriller "The Family" (2013) Genre: Crime Thriller "Stranger than Fiction" (2006) Genre: Comedy Drama "Trouble with the Curve" (2012) Genre: Sports Drama "A Prairie Home Companion" (2006) Genre: Musical Drama
