I loved your reaction. I cried alot again. This story is so well thought out. Also, the movie is made with the Colombian culture in mind and the more i know about all the details in the film, the more i love it. From what i've read etc, they did a very good job representing the Colombian culture. I also saw a therapist react to all the characters. This film is so good because every character resembles a family character in real life. Everyone watching this can connect to a character. If you want to, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aew-MogogXE Its so informative! The only thing i want to point out is that Bruno was not disowned, he left. After he saw that vision about Mirabel, he didnt know what it would mean. But he knew how everyone looked at him. So they would assume it would be something bad. He didnt know how to deal with it and left to protect Mirabel. Not that it makes it any better but still xD. I believe that Mirabel wasnt given a gift because the candle knew this would happen. Abuela's gift is sight/seeing/ opening your eyes. The candle knew she would lose her sight, if that happens, the magic would disappear. It knew that the family needed Maribel and when she fixed the family, it would show her that her gift is herself. The person that she is, is a gift. Thats what i make out of it. Great reaction, looking forward to more fun animation movies!

Loved your reactions! I love films with some great family dynamics (and family drama)! Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's great there's no "villain" in this one. The antagonist, so to speak, would be Abuela, but not a real Bad Guy. One other thing, I'm glad most of the adventure took place within the house. I think this film deserves all the praise it's been getting.

I loved your reaction. This movie is so well done. The scenes are beautiful, the animation amazing, the story was great, and the songs are so good. Everything is just great. One of the best things I like about the movie is they don't just explain everything, but leave it up to each of us to kind of write our own interpretation of what's missing. Like, did Mirabel really not have a gift? If the magic is back, where's the candle? Does Mirabel now have a room? My personal opinion is that Mirabel may have had a gift after all. It may be that her gift was to see into the others. Each time she went to each of her family members, she saw their inner most issues. After he Abuela told her of how bad her past really was, she said now she could see. In the vision, you could see her looking around, taking in all the details her Abuela left out of the story before. That may be true, or the visions and her getting in the heart of each family members matters may just be because she cared enough to explore and ask. Ultimately, I think she was differentiated from the family in a different way. In the beginning, her Abuela was given the gift of the magic candle to help her and her family. It was a gift. Ultimately though, it was a gift her Abuela couldn't accept. She just couldn't help but feel it was an obligation to live up to. She passed that feeling of obligation down to each family member. In a way, by not being given a gift, at least in the traditional way, Mirabel was freed from that obligation and pressure. Also, even worse than that, I think the candle also represented her husbands tombstone. In the scene where Mirabel witnesses her talking to her dead husband Pedro, she's talking to the candle like one would to a dead loved ones tombstone. So, in a way, the candle was a constant painful reminder of what she had lost, so she couldn't move on from the pain of her past. So, the magic, in a way, was damaging the family more than helping them. It was supposed to be a gift, not an obligation and a reminder causing pain. So, Mirabel was the solution to the problem of the magic. She had always viewed both the magic and her family as a gift. All she ever wanted was to help her family become stronger. So, I think, ultimately the magic left her Abuela and went to her. She ended up being the new candle. On the door, after she returned the magic to the house, her picture was prominent on the front door of the house. In a way, it is a passing on the next generation, to keep the magic going once Alma passes on. In another way, it frees her Abuela from the obligation she felt, so she can finally enjoy her family fully. It also returns to being a gift to the family, as Mirabel couldn't see it being any other way. As a final piece of evidence, just after the Casita pushes Mirabel into the house, she calls out for everyone else to join her and the Casita pushes them in. This kind of parallels her Abuela having Casita move Mirabel down the table to sit next to her so she won't keep interrupting her. It's a little thing, but hey. Each of us can probably come up with a different take on things. That's mine. Such a fun show. Again, great reaction.
