He did give daisy drugs carisolpodal but he also needs her alert enough to control her powers. The reason he was taking long is because he was debating himself so much with himself. Mental break because of stress and lack of sleep. This season is about hard choices and just like hawkeye said this type of job requires sacrifices. Not every choice is morally right. Some is just grey. Hawkeye killed many people. They could have been bad but it is hard to know. With fitz it was all about time. People were dying and they had to fix it. You can see daisy refusal to take it out because of her belief that she will destroy the world so it would be a timewaster talking while more people are at risk. The start of the episode is someone dying so fitz had no time really to spare.

The way Fitz went about taking the inhibitor out of Daisy is what makes this whole thing almost unforgivable. He tortured his friend, had a robot programmed to point a gun towards his friends including his wife, and at the end he still thinks he did the right thing. This episode really caught me off guard despite the fact that I've been noticing something off about him this entire season. I know that he didn't have enough time to discuss it with everyone and that he might have saved the world by having Daisy get back her powers but like you guys said, he went about it in such a cruel way. Curious to see what the other members of the team have to say about this.

So, I'm going to play Devil's advocate (yes, a pun). I've seen this episode a lot. Iain did some amazing acting in this episode, plus the twist in this one was sooo great. So, yes, initially this episode is a heart breaker. It's like each step Leopold took, things got immensely worse. The thing is, after you watch it a few times, your view on it will change. Right off, the emotional impact of everything going on blocks your ability to hear all the lines of dialogue. The thing is though, ultimately even Jemma admitted that what he did was the right thing to do. Going into his psychic split would take a lot of writing, I know, I tried and ended up deleting the crazy long explanation of it. Watch the episode a few times and just keep in mind all the things in season 2 with fake Jemma. Okay, the barebones facts of why Fitz did what he did and why he isn't a bad guy for doing it. He mentioned about how the fear dimension was leaking and how it would most likely break free and surge out beyond the base. Also he mentioned that this was most likely to happen fairly shortly. As we've seen, it's deadly. Imagine the town engulfed in it. Now the whole world. This is what Fitz was facing, mass casualties of the population of possibly the whole world. Okay, so he knows that he needs to compress the Gravitonium down and that you can't touch it. We know that because the doctor in season 2 was absorbed into it. The only possible way Fitz knows of to compress it down would be to quake it down in size. There may be some other method, but Fitz has no time. His lack of time also plays into why things with Daisy went the way they did. He knew she would fight it, and as such, so would everyone else. There simply was no time for persuasion. Possibly if Coulson was around, he could have persuaded him to order Daisy to go through with having it taken out, which is probably the only way she would have submitted to the procedure, but he wasn't around. So, he had to get it done and done fast despite her, and therefore, everyones objections. He rebuilds the robots to hold everyone else at bay. Mac got shot because he tried to fight the robot. If he just stood still, it wouldn't have shot him, but just shut down once the goal of having the Gravitonium compressed was met. A side benefit to the robots was to make sure Fitz didn't chicken out or bow to pressure from the others. Now with Daisy, he had to separate her from the others, so he couldn't use the med bay. Also, he states that he the base didn't have any better medication that what he was using. So, we can hate Fitz for what he did, but in the end, he caused Daisy some pain and returned her powers against her will to save many many lives. What would Spock say about that? Something about the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few. Brilliantly acted and brilliantly written. It does take a number of watchings to hear all the lines and to see how well they made the logical argument for justifying all the terribleness. At least, it took me several times to hear it all, but I usually have to go through an episode a number of times to hear all the things being said. I did love your reaction too, especially when it becomes clear that it was Fitz the whole time, and then that dread in the belly when he continues on anyways. Those threads on the device are so unrealistic when you think about it, but that long pull out of Daisy's neck, you can feel that dread sinking in your belly with every inch that's pulled out. So terrible, but effective at invoking that emotion. Well, nobody will say season five isn't brutal, that's for sure. It's great, but brutal.

2021-12-11 23:05:31 It wouldn’t have been smart to take the inhibitor chip out of daisy while she’s asleep, her not having her powers for that long & suddenly waking up with them would be dangerous or her getting them back while she’s asleep & something happens while she’s under & there’s no way of stopping her. Fitz-Simmons are 2 of the smartest people on the planet & they couldn’t come up with a solution at all especially with the time they had If there was a better way don’t you think someone as smart as Fitz would’ve figured it out

Exactly. Fitz literally was super stressed about this so much his psyche literally snapped.
