Shane was willing to be left behind when Otis reunited with him after the school, but Shane knew that only one of them out of was going to get out. Since Otis didn't leave Shane he made the hard choice of sacrificing him since both of them escaping was unlikely and if they did not return with the supplies Carl probably would've died. Also, the fight between them probably only lasted 45-60 seconds, maybe 1.5 minutes at most. You also have to consider that they would have to get into their truck with their huge bags without being caught or surrounded by 20+ walkers.

I agree more with Lori's point of view about whether they should let Carl live or die in this world. So, far in this show it sounds like the majority, if not all, of the world's governments have fallen. So the chances of a cure is pretty much zero. Having to live in a world where you're almost guaranteed a excruciatingly painful death of being eaten alive, if you get bit; dying to the infection. Watching your family and friends be ripped apart, and then they come back to life and do the same to you. Having to worry about food, shelter, and basic survival. Plus if you don't get eaten by a walker, you gotta worry about normal disease and no modern medicine to help you out. Yeah, I can see why Lori would not want Carl to grow up and live in a world like that. This show brings up really good thought provoking conversations. Great reaction as always. Can't wait for the next one. ❤

I made a comment on the YouTube video, bit I forgot to mention something. I'm pretty sure the truck was on the other side of the school. Shane and Otis were going to need to double back to the truck which would have taken a lot of time and energy. Shane leaving Otis alive and screaming would make Otis more "appetizing to the walkers and like Dawn said, it would bring more walkers to Otis and away from Shane. Otis was slow on his own but Shane was also slow with his injury. If Shane hadn't shot Otis, they both would have died. Shane was purely thinking about Carl. I do not like what he do, but I understand it.
