Oh wow, you being with your mom for a reaction again made me really happy!

Not much left on the DC live action front. Soon the well of superhero stuff will be dry.

This movie is really good. However, I sort of wish they hadn't tried to shoehorn this into some greater "DC Universe" where the populace accepted superheroes as real. I think the basic story works so much better if they'd inhabited a world in which superheroes were only known in comics and movies. The elation that Billy and Freddy and the rest of the kids would've felt to become real-life superheroes would've been that much stronger. Similarly, Galaxy Quest would've lost a lot of its impact had earth been visited by aliens all the time. That quibble aside, this really did have a lot of charm. (And it was a nice surprise to see Dawn with Mom on the couch again.)

Hey are you guys planning to watch The Amazing Spiderman 2 soon or do you prefer watching other movies first and wait?

I don't mind that much when you look up the cast for things you're gonna watch, but when you don't read the descriptions I feel like it's a fun surprise!

The superhero genre is oversaturated at this point, much like the westerns in the 60s and 70s

Zachary Levi was perfect for this role. I first saw him on the TV show Chuck. He was great there as well.

Regarding the issue of seeing movies completely "blind" as opposed to having some context. I've repeatedly said that having some context enhances the experience. (Obviously, I'm not talking about major plot spoilers.) Especially if a movie is older and comes from a time when certain trends or styles were vastly different than today. But I think the surprise reaction to Passengers underscores why having context is important particularly for reactors. If Storm hadn't known ANYTHING about Passengers, then they likely would not have ever watched it. She said herself that she already knew the cast and she'd known for a long time that she wanted to see it. Conversely, if the only thing she'd ever known about the movie was the vague title, then they'd have absolutely no motivation to ever see it.

I don't find anything wrong with having some context about the movie before watching it. That's what movie trailers are for -- to give the potential audience some context. lol
