Please put A Beautiful Mind on the upcoming Wildcard poll . It is a great film for them to react to .

Just curious if this was filmed prior to it winning the poll? I suspected that when it kept being put on the poll especially the most recent which seemed made to make sure it won.

Wonderful reaction. Always great when you guys get so involved in the movie. The post-movie discussion was especially good for this one. This might be an interesting time to watch "Contact," which I know has been on polls a couple times. It's a totally different subject matter as Cast Away, but it's another Robert Zemeckis movie made during this same period in his career. When watching his movies back-to-back, you'll see that Zemeckis really did have a distinct feel to his movies in this time - from the cinematography, pacing and the way he framed shots. Even his long-time music collaborator, Alan Silvestri, seemed to employ a specific style in this period.

It doesn’t matter, majority voted both times and I’m happy they can finally watch it!

Love this move so much.. and great reaction. Such an emotional movie.. did you notice there was no score all throughout the movie until the moment he left the island? It was basically just silent until that moment. I always loved that. And the music just pullsssssss your emotions. 😭

Daryl

Yes! I hope they will be able to watch this at some point! 🤞

It's funny, I actually assumed Kelly wanted to go meet him but once she got to the airport she realized she didn't know what to say and couldn't face him. And the indecisiveness made her decide to stay in the car and ask her husband to tell Chuck she couldn't come. I never thought about the husband being selfish, trying to keep her away. I thought it was her fear and anxiety of having to see the man she looked for so long after she had stopped looking for him, and it finally being real was too much to handle. It's not logical, pure unknown emotion. Even with those we love it can be hard to not be afraid of finally seeing them again because we get afraid maybe the love is gone. Or that you'll still love them but they wont love you. Powerful emotion is beautiful but also easy to be afraid of.

Alan Silvestri - The Back to the Future theme, the Captain American theme, the Avengers Endgame Portals theme, and this theme. I'm sure there are a few others I can't think of right now too. It's hard not to cry sometimes when you hear them.

I kind of agree with your interpretation. I've seen a few reactions to Cast Away now, and as a result, I discovered I'm more sympathetic to Kelly's new husband than some. I feel like he handled this most awkward situation as well as one possibly could. (In my mind, he even was aware that Chuck had come over and was talking to Kelly. And he just decided to let them work things out between them, because otherwise there was never going to be proper closure.)
