Just a heads up, this show jumps around a lot with time. It might be hard to follow when certain things take place but I'm sure you will figure it out in the end. Excited to re-watch this!

Really excited about these reactions ! You are right Dawn, it was originally a series of books ! It was conceived by polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski and started in 1993, which happens to be the year I was born so I might be biased but... pretty good year if you ask me ! :) The first book "The Last Wish" was actually a collection of short stories, depicting various adventures/hunting jobs of Geralt, until the series became more of a traditionnal saga. I have never played any of the games so I can't really say anything about it, but I really fell in love with the world through the books and now the TV adaptation. I was actually in the middle of reading The Last Wish when the show was announced so I was instantly excited about it ! Most of your questions will be answered along the way, you just have to let the story unfold and get used to the universe. However Tyler is right to warn you that the show does play a little with time when telling you the story. Some events from the same episode don't necessarily happen in the same time, and the story is actually told across multiple decades ! I don't want to go into detail by fear of spoiling, but just remember to keep your eye (and ears) open to spot clues and details said by characters, as it could help you make sense of the order of events in the show. I think they wanted to emulate the style of narration of the books, with the whole anthology nature of the short stories/standalone adventures, but it can be somewhat confusing to newcomers. Think of the story of the season like a puzzle basically ! :) Also, I absolutely adore Henry Cavill in this role. I think he is even more perfect for Geralt than he is for Superman ! And yes... "handsome"... is an appropriate adjective to describe him. That man is dreamy, and only a blind fool would pretend otherwise ! Excited for the rest of the show !

I've read the books and completed the games so I'm pretty well versed in the world of The Witcher lol. This show is solely based on the novels, while the games take place after the events of the books. The games weren't written by Sapkowski so he doesn't consider them canon, even though the story of the games is incredible too. I'm thrilled that the show has been as popular as it has been. We are getting a spin off anime movie and a mini series that's a prequel to the main show. I'm pretty excited for what's to come.

The Umbrella Academy didn't lose by a couple votes, it was 1 vote. Though I do like this show, that sucked haha. Personally, I think it's a spoiler to tell you all about what's going on with time in the show. I have never read the books or played the games like you, and it took me a few episodes to get what was going on with time. So I'd be careful with the comments.

It's not a spoiler. Netflix even made a website to make it easier to follow the timeline. The reason they used the format they used is because most of the episodes are taken from short stories. They had to find a way to connect them to the main story that begins in later books. Trust me, its not a spoiler at all.

This is a show that is incredibly difficult to get into if you haven't read the books or played the games. I watched this with my girlfriend and there were too many times where she was like, "Wait, what?!" By the end of the season, she still wasn't sure what a Witcher exactly was. The only explanation to this is that the writers got lazy. They knew they had a world that was extremely complex and they didn't know how to explain that to new viewers. So, they just decided to focus on the fans. That being said, let me explain the basics of what a witcher is. In a nutshell, Witchers are monster slayers. They go around the world and accept contracts for dangerous monsters that threaten a town or village. As explained in the show, Witchers are mutants which make them faster, stronger, etc. than normal humans. Because they're mutants, they're seen as being unholy and evil by the average person. This is why Geralt is encountering such hostility wherever he goes. This is very racist world and you have elves, dwarves, sorcerers, etc. all experiencing some type of persecution. Speaking of sorcerers/sorceresses, they're also met with mistrust by the average person. However, because they are naturally powerful, they've also got a great deal of influence in the world. Many of them serve as advisors to kings and queens as seen in the show. Hopefully, this explains some of the stuff you saw. This explanation doesn't even scratch the surface of this world so I guess I really can't blame the writers for taking the easy way out. Still, it makes it so hard for new viewers to enjoy this world.

Episode 2 soon? :)

Very well explained. This show is what introduced me to the Witcher universe and it might of been confusing at times but I catched on quickly. So glad they're reacting to it.

Why would you spoil the fact that the show jumps in time? jesus effing christ, it's not something that the show spells out from the beginning, the viewer has to figure it out by paying attention to the story and what the characters are saying. Yet you feel the need to just blurt it out. I honestly can't stand this sort of bs; what value did you add except by robbing them the satisfaction of figuring it out by themselves.
