This was such a hard episode to watch! So many pivotal moments spiraling out of control. I love our discussion at the end... when I finally start to calm down and think about certain events.. I realize what Walt was trying to do to still protect his family... even though he screwed so much up in the first place.. I'm glad in the end he still sort of protected them. I originally took it as Heisenberg the monster only existed after Hank... this was so hard!

this has been my most anticipated episode reaction!

To think if Jesse didnt assume Walt was there to kill him that Hank and Gomez would still be alive... 🤔🤔

True, but you can play that game with a lot in things in this show. Hank and Gomez cause their own death as much as jesse

Everything Walt said on that phone call was theater, he was trying to get Skyler off the hook for her involvement in his business, trying to make it look like she was held hostage. That's why he was crying while saying all those awful things to her.

This episode is sort of a rare achievement. It gave us the absolute stress and anxiety the ENTIRE episode. Not ONE moment dragged, everything hits the fan, and I mean EVERYTHING in this single episode, without it feeling unnecessary. It wasn’t bloated with how much it showed, nor did have any filler moment, it was PERFECTLY balanced. That’s why this is my favorite episode out of the entire series, and probably from any other series EVER. It truly deserved the rating of a 10/10 on IMDb.

When I tell you I dropped everything to watch this right away!

If it wasn't clear, Walt's phone call to Skyler was to redeem her in the eyes of the police as he realized Holly needed a mother. Despite how much peril Walt puts his family through and is ultimately responsible for, he does care about them. He cant reconcile that with his own selfish desires, but he does want them safe.

The fact that Walt was willing to give up his money in order to save Hank. Ugh! My heart!

I LOVE playing Devil's Advocate for this show, just because everyone is so quick to label Walt a monster, which he is, and so quick to blame him for everything bad when every character's hands in this show is dirty with the exception of Jr and Holly. I'll always blame Jesse for Hank and Gomez' death because it circles back to what Gus said: what kind of man talks to the DEA? A coward. Which is exactly what Walt called Jesse. Imagine going to the police to rat out your friend when your hands are just as dirty as his? Look what Jesse got out of it, the DEA didn't give a fuck about him, so he was about to give it all up for nothing. One on one, Jesse could never beat Walt in anything. So he resorted to the police. A bitch move if I ever saw one.

Your mum was right, Walt knew what he was doing, he saw Walt jr call the police, he knew they were listening during the phone call, he was protecting his family. That’s why he said to Skyler “toe the line”. That’s when she understood as well what he was doing. Walt never wanted anything to happen to Hank, he called back the Nazis as soon as he realized that Hank was there, he was willing to get arrested, he pleaded for Hank’s life and was willing to give away all his money in exchange for Hank’s life. I am not saying that Walt is blameless but he is not as monstrous as you are making him to be. On the other hand, Todd is the true definition of a psychopath. He wasn’t trying to save Jesse from his uncle, he didn’t feel anything about Hank’s death, he was making a calculation. Don’t forget his obsession with Lydia. About the tape, one of the reason they tortured Jesse was to make him talk, and he did tell about the tape and where to find it. Todd told him it is getting cared of.

One more thing, I think Walt took Holly at first to try to persuade Skyler to join him in his escape.

Janitor

Very true... only a few episodes ago Hank was told to "tread lightly" and he ignored Walt's warning. Of course Walt had no idea it would go down like that but Hank pushed on, which I don't blame him for doing

Hello ladies! I just joined your Patreon last night so I could see your full reactions to the final handful of episodes. As a die-hard BB fan, I thought I'd share a few bits of trivia with you: 1) This is the highest-rated episode of television on IMDb with a perfect 10 score from viewers, and is almost universally regarded by most critics and fans, including Vince Gilligan, as the best episode of the series. 2) The first trailer for Season 5 was Bryan Cranston reading Percy Byce Shelley's poem "Ozymandias" over shots of locations from the series. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3dpghfRBHE 3) Hank's line "he made up his mind 10 minutes ago" is a reference to the comic Watchmen, where the villain Ozymandias reveals his master plan to the heroes and tells them there's no way they can foil it because "I did it 35 minutes ago." 4) Baby Holly's "Ma-mamamama" wasn't scripted. The baby actually blurted it out during that take and they left it in because it was "pure magic" according to Bryan Cranston. 5) Walt telling Jesse "I watched Jane die" wasn't meant to be cruel or sadistic, just selfish. Walt genuinely felt bad for killing Jane--not because he murdered a young woman, but for the pain it caused Jesse and the victims of the plane crash. Telling Jesse was just him relieving a guilty conscience. 6) There's a few reasons Walt went from "wanting to talk Jesse down" to "selling him as a meth slave to the Nazis". First, Walt genuinely thought Jesse was under his control and it wounded his pride to see that Jesse had fully turned on him. Second, Jesse had turned into a "rat" by working with Hank; Walt probably had some BS "A real man solves his own problems instead of tattling" code he picked up from working with Gus. 7) Notice how Walt collapsing to his knees when Hank dies mirrors Gus falling on his face after his partner was murdered by the cartel. 8) If you're bummed out over Hank dying, here's a great Funny Or Die sketch where Dean Norris (the actor who plays Hank) writes and stars in his own, much improved ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_04Qc84HIyM (The video does not contain any actual spoilers; these are all joke endings.)
