Great reaction! Such a great comedy! So this actually came out in 2005, not 1998. It came out just 5 months after The Office premiered on NBC, so Steve Carrell's career was really just taking off at this point. Fun Fact: For the body waxing scene, that was actually done for real, and that was Steve Carrell's actual reaction to getting waxed! Also, the teenage daughter was in fact Kat Dennings, who played Darcy in the Thor movies.

You guys should react to Bridesmaids it’s really funny. I think your mom and Kim would like It. It has Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and a bunch of other funny female comedians.

In the movie they mentioned Liar Liar. You guys should watch that too it’s a classic Jim Carrey movie.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I'll throw out my 4 favorite comedies (Spaceballs would be number 5). You never know I might get the ball rolling on one of these. And these are in no particular order. Friday, PCU, Empire Records, and Can't Hardly Wait.

Since people are throwing out suggestions, I'll toss out a few. None of these will win any polls, but I'm hoping they might pop up as one of the random reactions. Gattaca (1997): A slower paced movie about genetic engineering with Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. Very moody and minimalist, like film-noir mixed with sci-fi. The music score is fantastic. That, combined with the narration, makes it almost feel like a sad fairy tale. 12 Monkeys (1995): Sci-fi. My favorite Terry Gilliam movie. Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, and Brad Pitt who is playing against the hunky leading man image he had early in his career. Ex Machina (2014): This one's a bit disturbing (though I think Mom can handle it). It's got a limited cast that includes "General Hux" (Domhnall Gleeson) and "Poe Dameron" (Oscar Isaac) from the recent Star Wars trilogy. I mention that because you'll be blown away by how different these actors are here compared to the opener scene in The Last Jedi in which Poe is essentially crank calling Hux. Memento (2000): An early movie by Christopher Nolan. Kind of a puzzle-box murder mystery with a limited cast of characters. Guy Pearce stars, but you'll recognize a couple actors from the first Matrix movie as well. Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993): This is kind of an off-the-wall suggestion, as it's basically a low-key family movie, which I don't think you've done much of. Loosely based on a real-life chess prodigy. This was the first time I ever saw Lawrence Fishburne in a movie, and he's shockingly young here. Lovely music by James Horner, who also did Titanic, Aliens and Avatar. Innerspace (1987): Manic sci-fi movie from the 80's. Directed by Joe Dante and produced by Spielberg. Dante had previously done Gremlins, and had a penchant for fantasy/sci-fi mixed with Loony Toons humor. This has a *very* 80s Spielberg feel to it. The music by Jerry Goldsmith is wonderful, and really adds a sense of magic to the silliness.

Saving Private Ryan is a must-watch. Shawshank Redemption too.

Kevin

I agree for more comedies you should watch Liar Liar as mentioned in the movie! And for a follow-up to that, Bruce Almighty which also has Steve Carrell. And a good followup to 40 year old Virgin with Steve is Crazy, Stupid Love. Another comedy.

i wonder how Dirty Rotten Scoundrels holds up today. When i was a kid it was like my dads fav movie but i havent watched it in years

I remember Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as being really fun. I think they'd like it. I believe it would also be the first Steve Martin movie they've watched as well.

Just a suggestion, but with The Patriot having gotten the second most votes on the most recent movie poll, just behind Armageddon, I think it would be a fun idea to do a reaction to that movie for the 4th of July weekend next week. It's the perfect tie-in movie for such a great holiday.

stormakima

Hi David! Thank you for your suggestion! We actually plan on watching The Patriot on Friday! I will try my best to have that up by Sunday! I know it's long and emotional! I can't believe it's almost July 4th!! Wow!!!

Another fun fact: Seth Rogen(Cal) was only 22 years old when he filmed this movie!
