I was very impressed with this movie. I thought it would be good but it turned out to be much better than I thought. Also, they talked about it very briefly but the only real way to get up to Zolum is as a "Final Champion" so she went back to the sport to become Final Champion so she can get to Zolum and Nova.

Alita is actually human with a full cyborg replacement body. That is why she actually has to eat to provide nourishment to her brain. The technology of her core had preserved her brain in a sort of stasis during her 300 years sleep. At the end of the movie, she was working to become champion because it's literally the only way to get to Zalem. As Dr. Ido said, you can't buy your way in and it's a scam that Vector was running saying otherwise. Technically the person made it to Zalem, but only as parts.

I'm pretty sure the ending was made specifically with a sequel in mind. I know it's a bit frustrating, but keep in mind that the movie is inspired from an entire series of books. As it is, they rushed quite a number of things. I mean, falling in love so quickly was a bit incredulous, but they did it well. I super loved this movie. When I first heard they were doing an Alita movie, I kind of felt bad. It's always hard to watch a movie that falls so far short of the books mark, yet I would say the movie in some ways surpassed the books. Her face was better than I could have believed possible. Plus, the way she moved. So insanely graceful while utterly deadly Sublime, lol. When you guys mentioned questioning the motive of the doctor going after Alita when Alita had her daughter's body, I kind of have an idea of maybe why. Ido said that she couldn't get over her daughters death. That implies that he, at least outwardly did. They broke up, it seems most likely, over that issue. She felt he got over their daughters death too easily. So, I think she may tried to kill Alita partly to try and make him feel the pain she did. Maybe he would grieve his Alita's death like he should have grieved his own daughter's. Of course, we all get to see that he has never gotten over it, as his devotion to the hunter-warrior trade attests.

Actually, just so you know, I just googled it, and actually 2 sequels were already planned for, Fallen Angel and Avenging Angel. A couple things have thrown a monkey wrench into the mix though. Of course, the most obvious is the Pandemic, which has decimated the film production schedule of pretty much everything. Also though, is the fact that it was made by 20th Century Fox, which was recently taken over by Disney. We are all happier about this as the MCU now absorbs the X-Men along with a bunch of other stuff. This though, means the future of Alita is now under DIsney's purview. There seems to be a strong fan base that is fairly rabid for sequels, so hopefully Disney pushes forth on plans already made. It helps that there was already a strong fanbase for the books, which seems to have adopted the movie well, which just adds to the fire for.a sequel. Here's hoping.
