Loved watching this again with you ladies. High school musical was such a huge part of my childhood and Gabriella's & Troy's breakup song was sooooo famous! We sang that song so much. I always pretended it to be me and started crying ( teenagers XD ). High school musical 2 is my favourite of this triology. I hope people vote for High School Musical 3 as well, because this is a great triology. I also LOVED that Kim recognized Miley Cyrus ! :D

I don't like how they undid the ending of the previous movie and made Sharpay bad again. Some people think Gabriella and the crew were being unreasonable and that Sharpay was actually helping him achieve his dreams which he earned. Troy's dad even said that he didn't have to feel bad AS LONG AS he earned it. But he didn't, at least not in the way that he earned it more than Chad or the others. He only got those opportunities because Sharpay liked him. He was also neglecting his girlfriend and treating his friends like crap by acting he was much better than them. I don't even think Sharpay genuinely cared about him, she was just using him. She also treated her own brother like crap. And while she was talented and worked hard, she wouldn't have gotten half of those opportunities if her parents weren't filthy rich. Yet, people insist Sharpay wasn't actually the villain because she was helping him, and even say Gabriella was the villain by stopping him from achieving his dreams and taking the spotlight away from Sharpay. Like what?! Did we watch the same movie? Anyway, rant over. There are three movies. The third movie was released in theatres and had a bigger budget so you might notice a difference in quality. There were rumours of a fourth movie for the longest time but nothing ever came of it. There is, however, a spin-off TV movie called Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. Austin Butler (Elvis) plays Sharpay's love interest. There is also a TV series called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which lasted for 4 seasons, from 2019-2023, and stars Olivia Rodrigo (who's become a very successful singer/songwriter since). Unlike the first movie, Zac Efron does ALL of his singing in this one (and the next). Bet On It is ICONIC. The premiere drew over 17 million viewers, making it not only the most-watched Disney Channel Original Movie in history but the most-watched in cable history. It is still the highest-rated Disney Channel Original Movie of all time. Many fans have noticed that Chad and Ryan switch clothes after the "I Don't Dance" number, but it's never explained why. Hoewver, I have seen a theory they made a bet for the game and if Ryan lost they would wear each other's clothes. But some fans insist that it's implying they are gay/bi, especially since Ryan was meant to be gay but Disney didn't allow it (it was confirmed in the TV show). The papers they throw in the air during "What Time Is It?" are actual assignments of real students from East High. The papers were all individually checked to make sure there were no embarrassing pieces of information on them. It took four days to film all the school scenes. During one of those days, classes were in session and students were told not to interfere with filming. Additionally, Sharpay's version of "You Are The Music in Me" was the last scene filmed for the movie. Most of the country club members in the movie are real members of the actual country club — The Inn At Entrada in St. George, Utah. Additionally, the president of the country club loaned his locker to Zac Efron so that he could use it in the movie. Sharpay's dog was played by director Kenny Ortega's real-life dog. During the final chorus in "I Don't Dance", the dancers and players are moving and singing faster because it was getting dark and they needed to finish quickly. During the lunch scene, a stage light was used to give the illusion of sunset. Sharpay refers to the Wildcats as the cast of Grease, which is funny because he script for HSM was an edited, unused script for Grease 3. Also, Vanessa Hudgens would later play Rizzo in Grease Live in 2016. The Hawaiian song that Ryan and Sharpay sing is called "Humuhumunukunukuapu'a", which is the state fish of Hawaii. The song wasn't in the Disney Channel release but was added to the DVD and later on Disney+. There are pictures of Sharpay's and Ryan's "Bop To The Top" performance from the first movie in Miss Darbus' room, and pinned to Sharpay's dressing room mirror. There is also a Twinkle Town poster in Miss Darbus' room. Originally they wanted to use the piano from "You are the Music in Me" for "Everyday". However, it had already been returned so they took the pink piano from "Fabulous" and painted it white. It was then discovered that the paint used needed up to 36 hours to dry, so they had to film the scene while it was still wet. The actors had three weeks of dance rehearsals before filming. It took Olesya Rulin (Kelsi) three days to learn how to move her feet properly for the "Work This Out" choreography. If you look closely in the scene you can see she is still having trouble. Almost every scene that Troy's dad appears in includes a basketball. The most creative inclusion of a basketball in a scene happens while Troy and his dad work on Troy's car in this movie. There's a basketball propping up the hood of the car and, at one point, it appears to be on the car's engine. In the kitchen scene when Troy's cell phone rings, the ringtone is "Getcha Head in the Game" from the first movie. When Sharpay and Ryan's dad arrives at the golf course in a helicopter, there is an instrumental version of "Fabulous" playing. When Sharpay and Ryan drive up to the country club, the song that plays in Sharpay's car, "You Got It", is written and sung by Lucas Grabeel (Ryan). Miley Cyrus has a cameo at the end of "All for One", wearing a yellow dress with a red flower in her hair. Her cameo was voted on by Disney Channel viewers, who also got to choose some minor details such as Chad's T-shirt slogans and what is written on the blackboard during "What Time Is It?". Btw, the guy dancing next to Miley is choreographer Charles Kaplow (he is in almost every dance number in all 3 movies). Zac Efron came up with the idea of him sliding at the end of the "What Time Is It?" scene in the cafeteria. Zac and Corbin Bleu also came up with the British ditty they sang in the kitchen. Allison Holker, pro-dancer from Dancing With The Stars, is one of the dancers during "What Time Is It?". She was married to Stephen "tWitch" Boss who died by suicide in December 2022 at 40 years old. Shane Harper, who was on Disney Channel's Good Luck Charlie with Bridgit Mendler (whom he also dated) is a dancer and is seen next to Sharpay in the classroom during "What Time Is It?". He also appears just before "Everyday". Some mistakes/goofs: Chad claims he doesn't dance even though he clearly does. However, most musical numbers that are not part of a stage production/rehearsal is probably just imaginary, as it is with most musicals. So they aren't necessarily dancing and singing while playing the game. But some fan theories have suggested the song is a metaphor for sexuality and experimentation, especially since it was later confirmed in the TV show that Ryan is gay. After "Work This Out", Troy writes 'Let's go!' on his notepad. He then flips it down to show Chad and the writing is the right way up. In order for it to have appeared the right way up in Chad's view after being flipped down, Troy would have had to rotate the notepad 180 degrees and would have had to have written on the other side of the paper. During "Gotta Go My Own Way'", Gabriella gives Troy back her "T" necklace, yet she's wearing it during "Everyday". How did she get it back? (Note: There is a deleted scene of Taylor convincing Gabriella to come back but we don't see her give the necklace back): https://youtu.be/VLBbupNXFx0?si=1q8xlZU1Tzi_3MlA You can see the stunt double that is used for Vanessa Hudgens when she jumps into the pool to rescue Sharpay. Here is a pretty funny video showing it: https://youtube.com/shorts/ylLzDijSpd0?si=3unlV7V-8L9kjsCn 🤣 (this guy recreates scenes from various Disney movies and shows which is hilarious!).
