How do you manage to write so much on a break?

Anonymous

Someone watched Real Steel on their break...

Docnox

I was skeptical but damn that was a great chapter

Fear not the AI that passes the Touring test. Fear the AI that purposely fails it.

ActionKermit

Interesting. I think I just figured out the true purpose of Zelkyr's challenge. Don't want to reveal it in case it's a spoiler, but it's a very clever way of testing would-be Archmages, if overly specific to his own specialty.

Andrew

Thank you!

ActionKermit

I think it's supposed to be a game of riddles. The challenger is supposed to say they're not going to fight the golems. Then each golem comes forward one at a time and the challenger needs to guess what lesson is inscribed in the Heart of each one, based on some kind of hint. It's supposed to be impossible by brute force, but a wise mage can learn what Zelkyr believes it takes to be an Archmage this way.

Everytime i worry that a chapter won't be good so I put it on hold for 2 or three weeks to build, especially K or G chapters.... but then I read and my expectations are blown away yet again. Why do I have so little faith after being proved wrong hundreds of times? There were very little times I was right.

Davis

So is Trey’s scheme to try and free Amerys? Risky, but I like it, and her return feels like one of the only ways that Reim could turn the tide at this point.

Kyle Aretae

Is there any other reason for him to go to Wistram? I thought this was a slam dunk case.

Davis

Fair enough. In my head it was a more general plan to infiltrate the Earthers and figure out what Wistram is up to, but I check out pretty hard during Trey’s sections so I definitely definitely definitely could have missed some obvious set up there.

Atlas Dwarf

Interesting theory but I think the test/challenge is a bit broader than golems. I believe the test is to see whether your group fits what Zelkyr would consider a true Wistram mage, as in one that is truly pursuing magic not politics, and you won't have to fight if you pass that. If your group doesn't fall under Zelkyr's idea of a true Wistram mage then the test becomes a challenge to Zelkyr's belief and your group has to overcome his greatest magic. I mainly got to that theory from Zelkyr likely slaughtering all the other [Archmages] cause of what they did to Chandler, Cognita graduating Pisces for his speech and Ceria for defending him, and the emphasis on the difference between Wistram's principles/priorities today versus when they were founded.

So there's definitely some sort of world wide connection, probably the system, that can be read and interpreted by others. I wonder if it's a skill or just knowledge that let's people be tuned into it

That was an excellent chapter. The POV of Nsiila *obviously a prisoner* and the Magus-Crafter are fast becoming my favorites
